A gripping and well-crafted thriller. For fans of post-apocalyptic dramas with ethical dilemmas at their core, Homestead provides enough intrigue to justify a watch—and perhaps a reason to tune in for what comes next.

I couldn’t help but feel like I was being scammed. Just when I was finally enjoying the film, I was given every reason not to.

Impressive performances and production value enable Ben Smallbone’s indie thriller to generate a substantial amount of suspense.

It's very well made... and it really touches on some interesting issues.

It’s all pretty slight, but it is very refreshing to see libertarian ideals rendered into what is otherwise really rather soapy.

The film does work its way around in the end, but feels rote.

“Homestead” needs a more solidifying third act and a payoff that does more than direct us to a streaming platform. Still, the movie succeeds in several ways, and it’s hard not to be absorbed in the dramatically rich setup we’re given.

You can bet your long rifles that the good guys in this flick walk around with MAGA baseball hats.
