Well-made character study of hard men living in hard times. I wanted to like it more than I did, but it was still plenty good.

Masterpiece great amazing acting and story

Fantastic performances all around though the slow-paced story unfortunately weakened the film, it is still an outstanding western worth watching!

Not for me. You'd expect good things from a movie starring Christian Bale and Wes Studi but this did not live up to the expectation at all. A slow burn with lots of sitting around talking and where not a lot happens. There's a couple very short bursts of action but the movie is basically just a bunch of soldiers sitting around and talking about regretting the horrible things they've done during the war. Wouldn't watch again.

Great western. A slow burn but Bale is entertaining. However, Rosamund Pike's Hollywood eyebrow lift on a woman in the late 1800s removes me at once from every scene. Poor casting choice, but then again which actress hasn't had a brow lift in Hollywood?

Phenomenal film with a strong message.

Intense, dark and likely very real. I’m a big audio book person, especially American history pre WW1. The whole story is one that’s easy to buy into. Several very intense shootouts and heated exchanges. However, the movie can drag at times, it has a lot of “dead space”. That said, I didn’t mind it, the spectacle of the Wild West will keep you interested if you’re into that sort of thing, like I am. If you need action packed, you may not love this flick. If you’re into the history of the frontier, and don’t have to have a fast paced movie to stay interested, you’ll enjoy this one.

Great movie, well casted and acted. Watched it several times now and never bore of it. It does have some sad and difficult scenes but ends well.

Amazing western plot , different from the rest. Really enjoyed this , Christian Bale is great as always.
