This movie is the perfect ending to the HTYD trilogy. A good amount of the movie was pretty stale, but the end made up for it. I don't cry when watching most movies, but I shed a tear with this movie. I've never really been a fan of Dreamworks Animation's titles, but now I see the studio in a new light!

Okay, good movie but why in the world would you decide to put in like a script or smth for hiccup to let toothless go, after ALL these years of shows, and how to train your dragon movie. I’m just losing it right now. And the light fury? Why would toothless pick the light fury over hiccup. Hiccup is the one that helped him fly, he fed him. He made his whole village ride dragons. Then let go of it. I’m honestly about to lose it.

The Plot wasn't as big as i expected for a Finale. It had some Plot Holes too.
The Mother was wasted and had barely screentime.
Villain came outta nowhere and wasn't frightening at all.. Drago was far better and interesting. (Who was also wasted and he is still alive)
Final Fight was disappointing.
Animation was fantastic.
Ending Scene was good and heartwarming.

Why give it such a bad ending? Aside from Toothless switching Hiccup for a female (lol), the worst part is that he takes all the dragons when he could have just left. The other dragons were happy in the village; they didn't all have to leave. I'm not complaining about anything else, just the relationship between Toothless and his "girlfriend." The worst part of the movie was watching and enduring Toothless switch his best friend for a super-forced relationship. Literally, Toothless switches his Hiccup for a relationship that seemed written just to end the story quickly. That said, everything else... passable (and not so much 🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️).

So I was a little concerned when folks were saying that they hated this film. I remember watching this in theaters back in 2019, and I loved it. Seeing this movie again six years later, and I do get why folks didn't like it. However, I don't think it's awful and will say that it is the weakest of the trilogy. It's still amazing and stellar as the animation goes, yet it doesn't have much good humor as the last couple of movies have given me. Some of them did kinda annoy me, to be honest.
Alright, what's the story? Berk has been running out of room since Hiccup and the rest of the dragon rider gang have been out helping dragons from dragon trappers. So Hiccup suggested that they find a new home for Berk as well as finding the Hidden World that dragons go into hiding. However, a dragon killer named Grimmel, voiced by F. Murrey Abraham, is tracking the dragons as well as killing Hiccup since he is a dragon sympathizer. Let's also add that Toothless isn't the only Night Fury out there as Grimmel released a white female Night Fury, or Light Fury as Astrid called it, as distraction. Speaking of love, Gobber even insisted Hiccup and Astrid get married already, yet Hiccup just isn't sure about it yet makes up for it as the story progresses. The story is still well-paced, even when some of the jokes stalled it for a bit.
The voice acting, especially Jay Baruchel, has certainly improved a lot as the emotion is still there. For the record, the emotion is there, yet the impact isn't much too deep as the previous two films had delivered. Again, the jokes did stall for bits of it, like when Roughnutt annoyed Grimmel while being held prisoner, which also got me annoyed. I love Kristen Wiig, but the writing and the humor that her character was given was annoying. As a matter of fact, this movie made me not like Roughtnutt, Toughnutt, and even Tnotlout due to the writing and humor they were given. Grimmel is a cool villain, yet not as amazing as Drago. Drago was a better villain since he used the dragons for dominance as well as using them to conquer the lands. Grimmel is a cunning villain, yet it's pretty much his character. Just being a dragon killer instead of a sympathizer.
Despite the humor being more of a miss than a hit, I had some good laughs. Especially when it came to Toothless trying to impress the white Night Fury. Yeah, I'm calling her that since Light Fury feels a little silly. Speaking of which, yes, that segment is silly, yet I can't help it but find it cute. The best parts that I will give this movie credit to were the time they'd enter the Hidden World, the first twenty minutes of the film, and the ending. The ending of the film is a sweet departure for how it all started. Matter of fact, a good way to end a franchise known as How to Train Your Dragon. Well, until TV series came into play and the live-action remake of the first film.
I do understand why some folks would either find it underwhelming or hate it. I just find it the lesser of the three, if you ask me. With that being said, I'm giving Hidden World seven and a half Toothless acting goofy to impress a lady dragon out of ten. 7.5/10.

A satisfying end with lots of fun to be had. The trilogy never loses steam.
