If I Could Ride
audience Reviews
, 63% Audience Score- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe movie was ok, but not one of my top favorites. I like that it talked about disability, but I felt like the movie was kind of slow and could've been a little faster. Also the Jodi's mom looks way too young to where she could be Jodi's sister. Also the camera quality was horrible and made the colors look very off. I heard there is a second movie in the works, so I'm gonna hope that it's gonna be a lot better than this one.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsI was in this movie as an extra, so naturally I saw the first premier of it. It was terrible. Additionally, I read the book, and noticed that they added several plot points that were not included in the original telling, and frankly, I don't know why they were added at all. While at the premier, I also received a hand out of the cast members, and I found it incredibly egotistical that the director included himself on the 'Leads' list. If possible, I would rank this movie zero stars. The treatment of extras participating in the filming was also terrible-- there were girls riding on horses in a circle for 4+ hours with zero breaks to eat or drink. They were being handed the overpriced food while on the horses, still not allowed to stop. While watching the movie, I figured that the director must've just gotten a drone camera, because there was an excessive amount of overhead landscape shots. Don't waste your time.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsThis movie is 2.5 hours of my life I can’t get back. The plot and message had so much potential, but that is where it ended. Jodie’s mom appear to be all of 15, at first I actually thought it was supposed to be her sister. The details were a joke to put it kindly. The hospital had patio chairs as seating and oxygen tubing with no equipment, the acting was sub par, and we would have been better off with a highschool camera crew for how shaky and awkward the videography was. It was like a train wreck I couldn’t stop watching. The coloring of parts of the movie were also very off, probably failing at an artistic style.the audio didn’t always match up either which is even more awkward because this is an American made movie and not a voiceover/dubbed one. I cannot believe they’re are being allowed to make a second one.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsStory could have been cute, but so much was so unbelievable. Jodis mom looked about 15, the one time I have ever seen a person typecast older than age,.my guess she was maybe 15 playing someone who was supposed to be 30s... They tried to make the shots all arty instead they made you sea sick... And the alcoholic mother was every bad acting part you could think of . The whole movie was more bad community theater, than a good movie
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsI give it a 3, the story behind it is beautiful, while also drug out. But, the filming is horrible and the mother and daughter look like they are both teenagers.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis movie was such a beautiful movie. There were so many heart warming moments about friendship and never giving up on your dreams. Alexis Arnold did a fantastic job playing Jodie Davis! Highly recommend!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI really enjoyed If I Could Ride's message. The plot is very fascinating and compelling and is cleverly written. The characters are all teenagers that are going through struggles, physically and mentally. The storyline follows a girl with a mobility disability who wishes she could ride horses. Another girl who is an outstanding rider gets hurt and the two girls start a friendship because they are both injured. It asks the question, "Who will step in to cover for the champion rider?" There is more to this movie than a horse competition – the plot left me on the edge of my seat and the emotions of the girls are very relatable, especially for teenagers. The main characters are Jolie (Alexis Arnold), Bridget (Eva Igo) and Coach Jimmy (Tom Vera). Jodie has a back disability and Bridget is a champion rider, coached by Jimmy. They are all entwined in an intricate storyline that is well-planned and intriguing. The sets and locations stay true to the plot, as the action takes place mostly in the stable or the arena. My favorite part is when Jodie becomes strong enough to ride a horse. The look on her face is heartwarming and it's rewarding to see her develop the strength and courage to ride. Sometimes, the lighting and the sound are a bit off and the camerawork is shaky at times, all of which are unsettling. The film's message is that friends and family are extremely important. They'll always be there for you throughout hardships and we see that between Bridget and Jolie. It's also about following your passions, especially when they make you happy. It promotes overcoming challenges and reminds us that we are capable of pursuing our dreams. I give If I Could Ride 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18. By Sydney S., KIDS FIRST!
