A really charismatic actor can supercharge even the most stolid genre fare, and that’s what Sweeney pulls off as the innocent but fast-learning Cecilia.

The movie’s shockeroo ending made me wince, and it made me laugh. It’s bad-gal blasphemy of the highest order.

I have nothing against anti-religious (or politically incorrect) movies if there is a point to them. My problem with this movie is not that it is just simple misogyny, survival, nihilism and revenge.

The fact that this film was stuck in development for a years does show, but luckily Sweeney sticks with it to give the film that shining moment.
