A recognizable slasher through an alternate, artistic lens, In a Violent Nature adds to the genre lexicon with novel pacing and lush cinematography.

Finally watched “In a Violent Nature” (2024), a film I was instantly curious about, but got lost in the shuffle. And I never heard much about it, so… anyway, here we are! Man, I loved it. Such a unique, refreshing film. Like nothing you’ve seen before, while simultaneously being a blatant, but loving homage to the “Friday the 13th” franchise. I mean, this guy is pretty much Jason, has mommy issues and everything. But instead of wasting our time, following cliché campers and backwoods hillbillies around, we just follow The Killer, as he silently moves through the scenic forest, in what felt like a creepy AppleTv screensaver (I wish). At times he just walks for a minute straight, and you’re just there for the ride. It’s weirdly mesmerizing. Every now and then, he’ll stop— hearing the laughter of young people around a campfire, and he’ll go check it out. These little visits are just enough to learn the also blatant, but loving “Legend of the Killer”. In the best way, it feels like a video game. You’re playing as Jason, and you find NPC’s talking about the exact exposition you need to hear at that time. The ending was definitely a choice, but felt a bit anticlimactic to me. But overall, a refreshing creative take, while also playing the hits… The type of cinematic experiment that’s probably best left alone, but I’d totally watch a sequel.

Ending is poor. But very brutal slasher movie.

You know the the type of person who goes to an art gallery and sees a canvas painted entirely white, and stands there remarking on why that is so brilliant and avant-garde? Well... this movie is made for that person. I am sure there is some artistic merit to it but you'll get more plot and intrigue from one of those stupid ghost hunting shows.

My husband and I were excited for this untraditional concept, but could barely make it through the first 30 minutes till we shut it off. I get the idea here, but I also felt like I was in video game with no control or just watching an NPC roam around doing (very fake) looking kills. Some people may appreciate this movie, I just sadly was not one of them. Great concept, not good execution.

    Could’ve been so much better

I wanted to like the movie but whoever gave this more than 1 star must have watched a different movie. Slow, boring, definitely filmed through a go pro stuck on someone's kid's head when it's not left establishing one lame shot for three straight minutes, this wish.com Jason has it all. Except for sensible pacing, or good dialogue, or any sense of urgency, or ..... Any real action outside of following the monster on his jaunty stroll through the woods takes an eternity to get to, and for some reason conversations from a mile away are heard perfectly clearly as if right next to the monster. The trees' acting is less wooden than the main cast, none of whom are even likeable characters. Every angle in this, a terrible choice. The only upside is the special effects weren't bad, but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who enjoys horror films that aren't trying to be """artistic""" and weird about it.

Horribly shot. Only one camera view and the plot is very thin. Not much to go on. Not worth the hour and thirty three minutes of your time.

One of the best kill scenes in any horror movie. It was very slow though and not exactly what I expected. More akin to High Tension than anything with a plot pushing it forward.

Boy, what a waste of time. Bad script, horrible acting. It's Predator / Jason wannabes. Now if you enjoy watching the back of main character walking through the woods, then this is for you. Completely puzzled high this can score so high.
