Adapted from a best seller by Jennifer Weiner, this tends toward petty audience manipulation, though Diaz and Collette strike sparks in the early scenes.

A simple yet rich drama played with humour and compassion and blessed with excellent performances.

Considering it doesn't star Maggie Smith or Judi Dench, it's surprising how mature and moving this female-focused drama is.
