Some good ideas and visuals, which really made me want to like it, but I found the electric guitars and rock and roll preposterous for the time depicted in the story, and the sound did not match the instruments in the visuals. I also did not like the characters, so the whole experience was an unpleasant mess in my view.

Incredible piece of work with iconic characters. Like a rock album flowing with emotions it takes you through a whole journey, from the enthusiastic singing along to the melancholy of the last song of a concert. A must see!

Lovely movie. Enjoyed the music, love the period detail. My daughter and I saw Heike Story, which tells the events that are important to this story. It makes the whole experience even richer. I read a Yaoi subtext here. I enjoy the level it's portrayed, hinted at but not explicit. I don't mind if it's subtext, and I don't mind if it's front and center, I just love the way it's portrayed here, like a tease.

I take delight for Masaaki Yuasa's work and this movie is no different. The story was beautiful and creative from beginning to end. I appreciated the visuals, the music blended with them so elegantly, the voice actors were excellent and the conclusion for it all unfolded with wonderful highs and lows that I desired to see more of. If you like animated features that have great storytelling, this is one to see.

This movie was an absolute must-see. I came in completely blind, without seeing a single preview, and the animation and story absolutely blew me away. The movie is stunning, visceral, tragic, and builds all this hype during your viewing experience that is so hard to replicate. The movie took my breath away multiple times, each more intense than the last. When I thought I'd reached the peak of my emotional experience, it would blow me away again. Every character is compelling, even if you only see them on the screen for a brief moment in time. If it ever comes back to theaters, and if you want to see one of the most artistic anime films I've seen in the past decade, is one of the most emotionally and auditorily compelling, please go see this.

"Here we are." Inu-Oh was a blast, I was grinning from beginning to end. A rock opera for the ages Yuasa doesn't miss

If you're a fan of Masaki Yuasa's work then you know what you're getting into- if not still check this film out - a rock opera set in feudal japan about two outcasts who come together to share stories and shoot for fame and glory. The animation is impeccable as is the voice cast especially Avu-chan of Queen Bee who is stellar as the titular Inu-Oh, Also be prepared cause this film is pretty dark so just be mindful of that. Anyways please check it if you want something outside the norm in terms of anime or animation alike
