It Lives Inside

This was a solid watch due to the two young ladies, but this doesn't offer anything new to the genre

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie beginning to end. I felt the isolation, the fear, the mental mind f***. It was a supernatural abusive relationship bc essentially the teen girls were the main course & everyone else we either snacks or appetizers, etc. Once the demon becomes full flesh & bone (teeth?) - coming out of the shadows, while diminishing the girls to the shadows taking from their life force - flesh & bone... is REALLY when I began to put it all together. One critic gripe about how once the demon was revealed "...that all bets were off!" I dk what that persons' stereotypical "demon" that feeds off of souls is supposed to look like to them. But once any -movie, story- crosses over into supernatural, magical, extraterrestrial, etc. There is no cookie cutter recipe as to what THAT type of demon from another culture that, that critic probably has no knowledge of the culture from which it stems from. Let alone beliefs behind it. I liked that it was a monster. An evil entity not at all human. Highly intelligent from the nine gates of hell simply here to create utter chaos and destruction while it does its most basic need & desire which is to feed and become stronger, but how it feeds with art almost. It literally tenderize its food with great patience and details. Of course somethings didn't add up at times but it's a movie not a book. It was a great movie. I literally felt those girls and emotional state mental state and physical, social all of just spin out of control and fight while constantly becoming terrorized- tenderize

Main actors aren't very good. I like jump scares with attention to timing, and this movie is more about creepiness and terror than clever spooks.

An interesting movie about cultural beliefs, peer pressure, and its impact on an adolescent girl trying to escape her culture, when evil forces her to return to her heritage and her family to combat the demons.

Con esta película, el director Bishal Dutta hace su primer salto al mundo del cine con la intención de ofrecer un relato acerca de la mitología demoniaca india y la crisis de identidad debido a las raíces de origen. It Lives Inside ofrece una oportunidad de conocer al Pishacha, una criatura demoniaca bastante conocida en las religiones hindú y budistas. Como muchos seres mitológicos, el Pischacha ha tenido distintas variaciones según los diferentes territorios donde se practica el budismo y la versión que se ve en esta película es un monstruo con un diseño satisfactorio que mantiene un par de cosas esenciales de esta criatura. La más importante de ellas es cómo atormenta a Samidha hasta llevarla a la locura. Esta criatura logra ser un monstruo bastante fusional a pesar de ser distinto a algunas representaciones que se han hecho sobre este ser en pinturas o manuscritos. La película no indaga muchísimo en la cultura india, se enfoca más en la crisis de identidad de Samidha usando la mitología del Pishacha como vehículo. Aunque no es una película con una idea muy original, lo que trata de transmitir lo hace de manera efectiva. La crisis de Samidha es lo más relevante de la película debido a su deseo de encajar en la sociedad americana y eso es lo que el Pishacha utiliza como punto débil para atormentarla. Samidha tiene los aspectos más comunes de los jóvenes que son hijos de inmigrantes, pero nacen o crecen en Estados Unidos. Ella es una joven que busca encajar con el resto de sus compañeros teniendo que sacrificar sus raíces culturales. Casos de este tipo se deben a que en Estados Unidos siempre se etiquetan a las personas que provienen de familias inmigrantes. Términos como “afroamericano”, “chino-americano”, “mexicano-americano” o “indio-americano” son ese tipo de etiquetas y más por el hecho de que predomina la idea de que para ser estadounidense hay que ser hijo de estadounidenses en muchos sentidos. Eso termina dando lugar a una crisis de identidad en la que no se sabe si ser indio en este caso es algo cultural o algo que yace en la sangre. Eso se ve reflejado en Samidha y por eso ese deseo de encajar en la sociedad americana le ha costado su relación con su madre y su mejor amiga Tamira. Cuando Samidha tiene que enfrentar al Pishacha, no le queda más opción que aceptar sus raíces y su verdadera identidad. Lo que la película plantea en la confrontación es el aceptar quien eres y no negar tus raíces. Así que la película es una historia sobre la identidad cultural y no dejar de lado eso que forma parte de ti. Es una historia bastante efectiva y funcional por más que no sea lo mejor que el cine de terror pudo brindar. Lo que al menos logra ofrecer es un oscuro ambiente lleno de tensión, una aceptable atmosfera de horror psicológico y un aterrador monstruo. La historia no es nada de otro mundo, pero tiene un buen ritmo. Como una película de terror es decente, pero funciona muchísimo mejor como una película que habla sobre la autoaceptación. Que esta película haya sido producida en Hollywood puede ser la razón de que no se haya explorado más a fondo la cultura india y por eso no se aleja de ser una producción americana. Lo más seguro es que esta hubiera sido una excelente película de haber desarrollado más la parte cultural. Aun así, It Lives Inside es una buena película que en el género de terror ofrece lo mismo que espera ver, pero los elementos referentes a la cultura india le dan un toque distinto y la moraleja que deja hace que se gane unos puntos extras. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 9/10.

For veteran viewers, it’s a void of ineffectively mimicked frights. Although, after watching “Tarot” that was unleashed this year, this film released precedingly functionally shares a treading seeking into the genre based off its ominous chills. If anything to find worthwhile is how it not only refines supernatural attachments but also the accompanied social commentary regarding cultural traditions and growth with an ode to distancing friendship. The overall deliverance may not be terrifyingly thrilling, but there’s appreciative craft in beneficial platform to address relatability during the occurring horrors. (B-)

Really loved this movie! It was something new and fresh. I'm a big fan of Hindi horror now. I was not a fan of the ending though. This movie would have been labeled as amazing, and must see if it weren't for that ending. They really extended it too far.

Just another monster movie, without showing the monster.

The film was OK but I was disappointed when the family spoke indu there was no subtitles so I couldn't understand what they were saying.

The subtitles were too small. Terrible acting and the story was not interesting.
