This is still one of my favorite horror movies. I love the setting and just the entire story of this film. I think the acting is very good In this movie. It’s a great remake of the original.

Average. The friendship developed in the "losers club" was done really well but the movie was missing and real scare or creep factor. Pennywise was weird but once again there was too much focus on CGI and not enough focus on making a scary movie with a scary villain. The original became a cult classic because it was disturbing. This remake captures none of that magic.

My favourite horror movie

It's a classic. The concept is really really good. The writing had a bit to be desired, but the acting was fun. Did feel like there was a lot going on, but we figured things out as it went on. Still had a good time watching!

Get ready to face your fears and welcome to the eerie town of Derry. Derry is a town like no other. It is cursed by an evil clown named Pennywise that takes the lives of young kids by praying on their fears. The parents are unaware and only the kids know what is truly going on due to the spell that lurks over the town. A group of losers -as they call themselves- will stop at nothing to figure out what is going on in their town and get justice, for the sake of Bill Denbroughs’ brother. This heartfelt adventure is sure to touch you in ways you don’t expect. It’s a journey of friendship and fear all wrapped in one. It’s also a chance to relive the horrors of growing up.
I, overall, felt that Stephen King’s: IT directed by Andy Muschietti was a horror film masterpiece. It had all the right amount of unexpected jump scares and had the occasional moments where it scared my socks off. I like how right off the bat a crucial moment happens, and Georgie is killed off. It made me more anticipated to see what the outcome of the movie was going to be as well as feeling a strong emotional connection to his older brother, Bill. We as the audience want justice for Georgie, so it makes you want to continue watching. I also loved all the mind tricks in the movie because we were really able to dig deep into each character. Bill Skarsgard absolutely nailed the role of Pennywise. Everything from the voice to his well-known facial expression. He knew how to become Pennywise’s character so well. I also loved how each character had a role to play. Beverly Marsh was chosen to be the strong female character, Bill Denborough was the determined leader, Eddie Kaspbrak was the anxious boy, Richie Tozier was the comic relief, Mike Halon was the knowledgeable historian, and Ben Hanscom was the intelligent strategist. The kids also did an excellent job in their roles, and I do not believe they could have gotten any better kids to play these roles. Even though I do not want to spoil the ending I just would like to say that I was happy I got the outcome I was hoping for.
This movie was not standalone either, that’s the best part. They came out with a second movie named IT: Chapter 2 in 2019. Although it was not as good as the first one-coming in with a rating of 62% on Rotten Tomato- it was nice to see all the kids grown up as well as seeing their flashbacks. There is also an IT tv show that came out in 1990. Even though I did not watch it, based on the trailer, I can tell the movie IT has had a major glow up since then and the film appeals more to horror fanatics like me today. The 1990 version appears cheesier and more comical rather than how horror films are seen today. Also, due to advances in technology the quality, appearance, and sound were so much better.
I think Muschietti’s version of IT is an absolute-must see! As it scored a high rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes. It surely brought Stephen Kings novel to life. I believe it brought a lot to the horror genre as everyone is super familiar with Stephen Kings novels and how creepy they are. 2017 was possibly considered “The Biggest Year in Horror History” and IT was at the top of the list breaking box office records for the horror genre. I feel this is due to the fact that this genre really bleeds into the documentary genre. As a little kid, you had many fears to face and at some point, monsters in the closet came up. Horror Films have a significant cultural role that they play. Just like in IT, you are able to connect with the film and realize you faced demons just like the Loser group did.
I believe that this film is not just for anyone as it is rated- R and touches on sensitive topics that may be uncomfortable to some. There is a lot of bullying, abuse, death, and trauma seen. You really have to be a horror fanatic to enjoy watching. For the average horror fan, I would also recommend not watching alone as a few times I needed a shoulder to hide on. While there is some humor there is not much, it mainly preys on your deepest fears with more scary events than funny.
Overall, I give this movie a 5 out of 5 if you are really into the horror genre. To me it is honestly more than just a scary movie, it’s about coming of age and dealing with all the scary fears of growing up.

It was overall an incredible movie, however for me personally it failed to deliver on 90% of the scares. Some of the decisions of the characters fall under horror movie stereotypes such as splitting up and wandering off alone for no reason. despite this, the acting was amazing, story solid, and especially the characters delivered on so many levels. Would definitely recommend a watch.

one of my favorite movies of all time, it's impossible you don't get involved in this history
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Having never read the book or watched the TV series I watched this with no imprinted expectations and with clear vision. If you want only to see a typical 'psycho horror' you will be let down because it's much deeper than that. Although the opening scene certainly is graphic bloody horror.
Pennywise could scare people who are not even afraid of clowns. He also has a personality which makes him even more scary and not just a bloodthirsty fiend. He takes fun in pushing you into conversations and destroying your thoughts before trying to bite your face off. That is most chilling. The scenes of him appearing out of nowhere, even in broad daylight, give the 'jump' factor that a good horror does require.
It's also a story within a story of the school friend teenagers who with their own personal dilemmas (some even abusive) build solidarity to not only deal with Pennywise but also their own personal situations. To know there is someone close by who will try hard to rescue you no matter what is reminiscent of 'Stand by Me'.
There seems to be a profound lesson of overcoming fear.
The acting is fantastic and all the characters who being so diverse actually fit together like peas in a pod. I can watch it again and again

A perfect character developement with a great storytelling

Every character had an interesting story(except for Stanley). The only bad points of the movie were the love triangle and the over-exaggerated bullies.
