I remember loving this movie as a kid since I was huge Veggietales fan. And upon a rewatch as an adult, the movie still holds up surprisingly well. It's goofy and silly sure, but the movie is able to balance it with the themes of compassion and mercy which are very important to teach to children. Also "God of Second Chances" has no business going so hard. Whether you're rewatching this movie as an adult or show the movie to your children, it's a very entertaining movie.

This is easily a quotable classic over the years and is one of the best films from 2002 and deserves to be praised by everyone who gives a second chance and have mercy. 10/10

While it does feel like an extended episode of VeggieTales at times (which, in some respects, it is since it was originally meant to be a 45-minute special), Jonah is a delightful Christian film with animation that, while by no means Pixar quality, has aged surprisingly well for 2002 on a much smaller budget than Ice Age (having pre-existing character models to use for reference probably helps coupled with the fact that the lighting animators were brought over from the aforementioned Ice Age and Jimmy Neutron though the animals' cheap-looking character models are where it shows its age), fun songs, better jokes than most of the animated films from the mid-2000's targeted towards older audiences than VeggieTales in their misguided attempt to ride off of Shrek's coattails and sending good messages to its target audience about compassion. All in all, an enjoyable film that remains faithful to the VeggieTales spirit that the entire family can have a good time with, even if this is your first exposure to the IP outside of Jimmy Davis YTPs.
