Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie

MAPPA, who is praised for its quality animation, really went all out for this one.

Those familiar with the show will rediscover a lot of its pleasures here, as directed by Seong-Hu Park: it shows off the same mix of fantasy horror with contemporary style and aloofness. It’s a lot of fun to look at.

It was actually a lot of fun... But the actual narrative doesn't make a lot of sense.

Animated with devilish glee and full of deep characters, “Jujutsu Kaisen O” is a thrilling high point in anime.

The animators enjoy depicting imaginative and extreme violence. If that’s your thing (and if it isn’t, why are you watching this movie?), “Jujutsu Kaisen 0" does not disappoint.

Bolstered by an electrifying score, this cathartic ode to the triumph of love is a treat for ardent fans and newcomers alike.

Those familiar with the series will get a kick out of seeing supporting faces fleshed out, while newcomers can safely get lost in a world that is equal parts goofy and darkly heartbreaking...

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 doesn’t know how much it needs to verbally explain, how much to keep simple, or when to just let the visuals do the talking, which makes the pacing of many scenes extremely awkward and uneven, in addition to just getting on my nerves.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is one of the best action packed anime films this year. As this is a prequel to the title anime series, some characters we see here we are not familiar with but the emotional weight and foundations to well with this engaging narrative!

“Jujutsu Kaisen” is an excellent anime film, which continues (prequels I guess) the “legacy” of the franchise in the best way, and a title that will appeal to both fans of the original series and of shonen titles in the style of “Naruto”.
