Jungle Cruise

This Amazon adventure veers off course...

The general sexlessness of the Disney machine can make even the most chaste underwater exchanges of oxygen look downright heated. Just imagine if any of the sorta-flirtatious patter had the zing of a screwball pairing!

Jungle Cruise is exactly what you expect it to be, a bombastic but bland action-adventure jam packed with outlandish set pieces, clocking in at 30 minutes too long.

[Blunt is] so much better than anything else in the movie that she makes it not only tolerable but sometimes surprisingly enjoyable.

You've been on the ride before, but twenty minutes in, you're thinking this is fun...scrappy with a 70s feel, good fun and it does what it says on the tin.

It's something closer to an amusement-park attraction named Generic Blockbuster Cruise, where you slowly glide past a bunch of prefab set-ups and the whole thing moves inexorably forward on a track, while a skipper cracks the same corny jokes.

Jungle Cruise‘s downfall is triggered by an episodic midsection riddled with entirely underwhelming subplots and digressions...

The poor visual effects, questionable stylistic choices, and a dragging story with a poor script distract you from the good aspects the film has.


At best, Jungle Cruise is mildly entertaining, with traces of a better film peppered throughout. At worst, it reminds you that Pirates of the Caribbean did all this way better twenty years ago, and nothing seems to have progressed since.

I think we would all agree to hop in a boat with these two as they take us on an adventure.
