The dinosaurs in the story are especially beautiful, Carnotaurus.

Visuals are good, music is alright, but nothing really makes this film stand out. It lacks creativity, 2/5.

Loved the first movie but this was ridiculous

Only thing I liked was the Carnotaurus

A take on another “the dinosaurs are loose” storyline, but this time at a mansion in Northern California. An odd script and even odder introduction to cloning.

Well, after Jurassic World and now we've entered Fallen Kingdom, it feels like a pattern is forming. Especially for when we are gonna see Dominion this Friday. Like how with Jurassic Park being at the top, and then we go down a notch to the Lost World being a great sequel and then the third movie being underwhelming. Well, let's say that Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is certainly like how the Lost World: Jurassic Park fell under the first movie. Though I'll say it's okay. Though I will admit that it is a little better than Jurassic Park III since I have placed Fallen Kingdom in the middle. However, it does have its set of problems. Just a heads up, there will be some spoilers. You have been warned. So the story starts off three years later after Jurassic World with Ian Malcolm, played once again by Jeff Goldblum, debating with the U.S. Senate committee on whether to save the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar having an active volcano erupt to kill off the dinosaurs. Ian says let the dinosaurs go extinct, yet the Dinosaur Protection Group led by Claire Dearing, played again by Bryce Dallas Howard, submitted a forum to save the dinosaurs yet was denied by the Senate. However, on the same day, an old partner of John Hammond named Benjamin Lockwood, played by James Cromwell, suggested to Claire to relocate the dinosaurs to a new island sanctuary so that no harm can be done. His aide, Eli Millis, played by Rafe Spall, has provided them some mercenary service in return to reactivate the park's tracking system to locate the dinosaurs as well as Blue, who is the last surviving Velociraptor. Along the ride to Isla Nublar, Owen Grady, played again by Chris Pratt, tags along as well as two other members of the Dinosaur Protection Group, Franklin Webb and Zia Rodriguez, played by Justice Smith and Danielle Pineda. But as soon as the tracking system is online again, it turns out that the mercenary group led by Ken Wheatley, played by Ted Lavine, had stabbed them in the back as the volcano is about to erupt. Back in Lockwood's mansion, his granddaughter, Maisie, played by Isabella Sermon, overheard Eli having a plan of his own behind Lockwood's back by auctioning the recaptured dinosaurs to the black market. To make things interesting, Eli assigns Dr. Henry Woo, played again by BD Wong, to genetically create a new kind of dinosaur with the DNA of the Indominus Rex's bone that was retrieved three months after Jurassic World before three years in the current time of the film along with Blue's blood. I will admit, the first half is pretty rough since there was so much going on, and I have to admit, I'm not a fan of Franklin and Zia. I honestly got a bit annoyed with them and their writing. I admit that Claire got better in this film than she was in the last film. Then there were other things that had happened and not explained much like Owen and Claire breaking up. But I digress since that was only brief. However, what still works is how we see Blue and the rest of the dinosaurs again, as well as seeing that volcano erupting. You have to admit that the effects had gotten better with the use of both practical and CG. The shots that were made are great. Even when they'd left the island in time, we see that shot of the remaining dinosaurs that were left behind to be wiped out by the eruption. Cynical as that sounds, but you have to admit, seeing them going extinct as it were billions of years later with your own eyes is pretty cool. The second half does pick up better as we see the creation of what they call the Indoraptor. Sure, it's a prototype, and it does show why it can not be tamed properly since it's juvenile. Not to mention, it's what happens when we genetically create something through gene splicing only to be killed off by our own creation. Can't complain that I enjoyed the bloodbath as the Indoraptor has been unleashed because the leader of the mercenaries got cocky and left the cage unlocked. The fight between the Indoraptor and Blue was actually one of the best parts of the movie. As far as seeing Eli getting his just desserts, I think he's one of the worst villains as the Jurassic Park franchise goes. I can honestly say he's worse than John Hammond's own nephew back in the second Jurassic Park movie. Especially when you have him revealing himself as the villain right out of nowhere as well as seeing the group of mercenaries turn on Owen, Claire, Franklin, and Zia right out of no where. It's just the pacing and the writing being all over the place. It can be seen as so bad, it's good to some folks. The effects, the shots, and the brutality are what kept this movie in the middle for me. Owen and Claire are still great. Not a fan of Eli, Franklin, and Zia, unfortunately. I found Maisie okay, especially for that little reveal, which I thought was kinda forced. However, she does help out a few times. What I found weird is that Ian only shows up in both the beginning and the end of the movie when it comes to debating with the U.S. Senate. The shots are cool. The effects have improved, in my opinion. There was a scene where Owen incites a Stygimolock to break open their holding cells that were creative. I felt emotional to some of the scenes with the dinosaurs, too. I mean, they are animals, too, at the end of the day. It could've been written better, but I'll take it for what it's worth. Again, it's a little better than Jurassic Park III, yet it's still in the middle of the movie for me. I will give Fallen Kingdom five and a half Owen and baby Blue out of ten. 5.5/10.
