Great iniciation of a new thrilogy. Contents all of the trademarks for Planet of the Apes + some new ideas applied. Worth watching if you are fan of the universe

A bit too long but I love the apes and humans, great antagonist and sometimes some really nice action

A great start to the new era of the franchise and a strong story line that clearly mirrors the way in which the previous trilogy began. An interesting to way to show the trajectory of apes taking over would "work".

Amazing SFX, plot wise is nothing new, same old premise after innumerable sequels.

I got the opportunity to watch this a bit late as I also re-watched the trilogy again. The trilogy was so perfect and the OG crew are literal icons now when it comes to this world and what it has to offer, you never think about the value of something until you lose it, the new crew and characters lacked everything we had with the originals, Caesar had an aura to him that you could feel it everytime he's on screen as a character and a leader thanks to the perfect acting of Andy Serkis. No emotional connection to either the humans or the apes, the villain Proximus Caesar was kinda good but lacked some more to him, some characters were under utilized and gone too early. Visuals are great This setting of the movie is great and I think the movie is important to add more lore and depth the world that Caesar created, was it necessary ? no, but it's great to have. Pacing could've been better but it's definitely worth giving a try if you're into this world.

Pro's: 1) Better than part 3 2) worth watching in terms of well utilized CGI and art direction. 3) premise was good for the upcoming parts. Con's: 1) music could have been better, music is awful at most of the parts. 2) dead slow screenplay sometimes tiring you. Overall: Worth watching. 7/10

The CGI was beautiful, the animation as well. The choice to skip a few generations was really smart, it felt like something new while also feeling familiar.
