Kiss the Future is a moving tribute to the power of art under siege. Centered on Sarajevo during the 1990s war, the documentary blends the grit of real-life survival with the hope of underground culture—culminating in U2’s post-war concert that’s more than just music; it’s catharsis. Director Nenad Cicin-Sain keeps the focus where it belongs: on the Sarajevans who used creativity as resistance. This isn’t a vanity project—it’s a testament to how culture, even in rubble, refuses to die. Haunting, inspiring, and deeply human. A quiet triumph.

One of the most compelling documentaries I’ve ever seen, I stubbornly became a Bono/U2 fan over the course of the film and was moved to tears multiple times, not just from sadness but from the fragility and optimism of humanity. A must watch.

Although I had not been physically involved with the events this movie is about, I had been close enough geographically to be involved emotionally. The director did a great job combining multiple narratives, bringing the story without too much pathetics, the story about how the music helped people of Sarajevo to maintain their sanity during the siege.

A touching look at an incredible time in history and use of music in the film. The people involved leave impressions and personal perspectives on the events. U2 fans will enjoy the concert coverage.
