Kneecap
audience Reviews
, 95% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsHad this recommended to me—otherwise I’d never have watched it (didn’t even know who Kneecap were). But damn, glad I did. Their songs *bang*, and the film’s got some serious energy. It’s part biopic, part fever dream, and somehow they’re actually *good* at acting? Like weirdly convincing for a bunch of musicians playing themselves. There’s proper humour in it too, not forced—just naturally chaotic. The drama hits, the love story’s sweet without being cheesy, and the whole Brits-vs-Irish-language angle adds some real weight. Felt like *Trainspotting* meets *8 Mile* but with Gaeilge and balaclavas. Even if you’re not into politics or rap, it’s just a wild, entertaining ride. Solid 3.5 stars. Maybe more if I knew the lads going in.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars"Kneecap" is a 2024 film that had a brief run in theaters and is classified as a comedy. It features Naoise O Caireallain, along with a cast of unfamiliar foreign actors and actresses, likely hailing from Scotland, as evidenced by the heavy use of subtitles throughout the film. Unfortunately, I did not find the movie amusing at all; it fell flat as a comedy, failing to deliver the laughs one would anticipate. The direction seemed disorganized, leaving the narrative feeling fragmented and confused, as if the creators struggled to establish a clear vision for the film. There were numerous moments that could have been leveraged to elevate the film, but the writing simply did not hold up, resulting in a chaotic viewing experience. Each time I tried to follow the plot, I felt lost and bewildered, as the story lacked coherence from start to finish. I initially missed the chance to see this film in theaters due to its limited release, and in hindsight, I’m relieved I didn’t make the effort. Watching it at home allows me the luxury of skipping over the excessively absurd parts. Overall, I cannot recommend this film; it’s not worth your time. If you’re looking for something to watch, I suggest finding something more worthwhile—maybe put on a vacuum instead!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsNecessary voices, Necessary film for the times.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSuch a fun watch. It's a wacky exaggeration of the real world lives of those who live in Belfast, and origins of a now iconic music group. One of the absolute must watches of the 21st century
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsWell made but really only if interest to those interested in hip hop, cultural preservation and/or Ireland.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsYou wouldn't think a teacher turned drug-infused rapper would change the future of the irish language. But. It works.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsKneecap is the filum of the decade, one to remember, like Trainspotting, it's a masterpiece of urban youth, great script, comic magic. Leaves you wanting more.....Kneecapped, Kneecapping, just can't wait for the sequel...
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsGlorifying drug, violence, crime, while trying to fight for Irish culture.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsWildly original and inventive, not just in the subject-matter but how it is filmed and presented. Among all the chaos and hilarity, it’s easy to overlook the brilliant costume design and cinematography. Great craic!
