I don't know why this movie got such high critic scores. It wasn't terrible, just boring af. The scenery was more interesting than the story, that's for sure.

Reminded me of the Corn Brothers film Blood Simple. Top notch acting from all. Dark and light at the same time.

It sneaks upon you. At first the pace and story development make you second guess your entertainment choice and you start searching for your remote in the sofa cushions. But wait! The tale, like the characters, drives you to curiosity to figure out where it all will end up. No need to spoil it for you but I will say accurately that Lake George is beautiful.

Starts off good but then, once it tries to become kind of funny, it is too unrealistic.

The first few minutes are a little slow, but I was hooked once the story developed. Whigham and Coon are great, and the supporting cast is superb. I particularly liked the bit with Whigham's ex-wife, it brought a lightness and kindness that kept the film from drowning in noir gloominess.
It was just great to see such good acting in a sea of superhero movies, boring sequels and animations.

Follows a conventional plot path, but is a very unique and interesting take on the noir genre. Lead cast is superb, and all secondary characters are well drawn and entertaining. The film has emotional weight without being either sappy or morbid. The pacing could possibly have been a little tighter, but that is a minor complaint where everything else works so nicely.
