Incase you need a heartwarming reminder that the love between man and dog is incomparable.

Charming family film that works best when young Roddy McDowall and Elizabeth Taylor are onscreen with Lassie. Scenes of Lassie's long trek home across forests, rivers, shorelines, mountains, and valleys are also first rate. Movie loses some impact due to unnecessary excursions into Lassie's dealings with a street performer, and an elderly couple.

Lassie Come Home tells the story of a rough collie named Lassie who will do whatever it takes to be with her best friend. An emotional rollercoaster that will make you laugh and cry throughout Lassie's journey. What makes this film so unique is that the film's protagonist (Lassie) who not only gave a wonderful performance in this film but is unanimously well-liked among audiences as they understand her simple yet heartwarming intention of reuniting with her best friend. Speaking of heartwarming, the musical score composed by Daniele Amfitheatrof was quite beautiful yet powerful that almost made me shed a tear. Lassie Come Home is a touching film with straightforward emotional beauty that even those with the strongest hearts will melt because of this affectionate film.

Still absolutely watchable 78 years later with no magic lost, really showcases the struggles of a post-war family. A story that everyone can relate to.

A bit... no.. a LOT of sentimental pap here for sure.. but all sorts of interesting goodness here. A young Roddy McDowall for starters, Elizabeth Taylor in one of her earliest roles, and of course, my man Nigel Bruce! And Lassie. Alright for curiousity and sentimental value.

Lassie come home 1943 Starts off in Edenbourow England. They sold Lassie for money and could not afford money to pay for food for Lassie. Lassie dug herself out first time and second time jumped over the fens. Lassie to go to Scotland for a dog show. Heinz the dog handler does not like Lassie. They go to Northern Scotland very mountainous landscape. At 4:00 P.M. Lassie would always want out for meeting for school. Lassie encounters small traveling wagon trick show where small dog named Tuts does tricks like pick up different color rings or jumping through rings. Two burglars have a fight and knock out and kill Tuts in the fight with clubs. I think this film is better because it deals with loss and there is an evident risk where we see the consequences. Lassie jumps out of a two story building and gets a limped foot when trying to escape the dog catcher. Lassie is starving refuses to eat soup. I feel like the story and characters I am invested in and people die that you care about so story is stronger. The ending links and sets up to the next film Son of Lassie.

An undisputed classic, Lassie Come Home is a heartwarming and brave flick that focuses the dog in Lassie, and her defiant struggles. Noted supporting cast members include Roddy McDowall (Fright Night) and Elizabeth Taylor in their youth, both giving cute and wonderful performances.

A wonderful story about a boy and his dog. Possibly the first movie of that type too. Simple yet heart-warming plot, great cinematography and scenery and some great performances. Movie features some stars in the making. Roddy McDowall is hardly recognisable at 14 years old, and puts in a solid performance as the boy. Elizabeth Taylor was only 10/11, and acting in her second movie, when she appeared in this. Good supporting cast too. And let's not forget the performance of the dog who plays Lassie - great work from her. Great, classic, movie and suitable for all ages.
