Everyone’s a late bloomer but you’re never too old to come of age Louise is a 28 year old woman comfortable where she is but almost every one of her friends has gone up and left She’s also struggling with her aspirations as a musician especially with her mother suffering an illness that’s diminishing her One night she sneaks around her ex boyfriends house and ends up breaking her hip She has to remain on crutches for the time being Then she encounters an elderly Polish woman who’s quite the sporadic individual; she’s rude, snappy, and full of sass Louise then decides to take her in as a tenant in her apartment and slowly they form a friendship The friendship is pretty adorable between these two and you understand with this old woman why she’s mad at the world Everything changed after she came to this country so naturally she would change on her own The first half is happy go lucky yet after the second half it shifts entirely to a drama portion into the last half It’s a bit unbalanced especially with the constant flashbacks But Karen Gillian shines as Louise learning to grow up herself in several ways as well as the agonies of aging It’s okay to make new memories, be more curious, anyone tells you anything negative get them out, travel more, kids may drive us nuts but they keep us curious about the world, we can still mature and learn

Karen Gillan is a wonderful actress, and the entire cast was perfect. This was a very enjoyable movie. It is also available on Kanopy, which is what I used to see it on 1/30/2025.

I'm so confused. I remember watching this movie, but I don't at the same time. What happened?

This movie is all about Louise played by Karen Gillan) and. In reality, Karen Gillan carries the film all on her shoulders with a bum hip. The script’s sentimentality is a few smidgeons above clichè and feeling emotionally manipulative…but Ms.Gillan’s performance overcomes the film’s shortcomings.

Humbling genericity of ill-mixture albeit good intentions to minimal joy with Karen Gillian’s light-hearted comedic attempt being admirable in voicing bodily frustrations’ shrinking generational gap that doesn’t strike as conversationally engaging. (B-)

I enjoyed this movie so much, it was funny and poignant and human and awkward in all the rights ways. Job well done :)

Sorprendentemente interesante. A mi me gustó. Me parece una película que vale la pena disfrutar.

A fantastic, moving, great movie with not just heart, but a soul. I really loved this picture, the buzzwords are "heart felt" "cute" & "unexpected". And, while it is definitely all of those things, it is so much more. Bravo to the cast, the crew and the very talented director at the helm. Highly recommended, rattling around in my brain for week after I saw it. You should watch it.

Steps on the melancholy a bit too heavily but mostly works
