Late Night with the Devil
audience Reviews
, 82% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely horrifying, cinematic, and kept me on the edge of my seat! Highly recommend...
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsEntertainment that uses Found Footage to tell its story and does so masterfully in just an hour and a half. Those expecting scares will be disappointed, since the entire arc is wrapped in a well-constructed and elaborate suspense, which uses the “tricks” of a television program to keep us interested in what is happening on screen, since we do not know if what is happening is true or false, since everything is about “show business”, even if you late night with the devil… or not?
- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsUsually rotten tomatoes scores are reliable - however I was very disappointed by this film, and it certainly doesn't deserve the high scores from either critic or public. Most of the film is mediocre and doesn't live up to the potential of its very interesting premise. Then the end completely loses it with a series of surrealist scenes, which brings into question the entire 'found footage' shown up until then. The abrupt end basically leaves the job of story writing to the audience - such a shame for what could have been an interesting film.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe best part about this movie is how truly unique it is. This comedic-horror film is centered on a 1970's Talk Show host, played by David Dastmalchian. David Dastmalchian plays Jack Delroy, a Johnny Carson competitor whose Halloween show becomes the subject of some supernatural and horrific events. This is a period piece that stays true to form. Every aspect of the cinematography, the costumes, the sets, and the faux commercials all have an authentic feel. The attention to detail is astounding. The film is unlike anything I have seen, and it is worth seeing. It is a film that does not take itself too seriously, and the viewer shouldn't either. The movie is well Directed by Cameron Cairnes. The cast does a great job playing along and that is part of why this works. Ingrid Torelli does a good job as the Linda Blair type escapee of a Devil worshipping cult. Worth a Watch
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsWow this was surprisingly good
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI'm not a huge fan of demonic possession movies, as they seem to kind of hit all the same notes. This was a fantastically fresh take on the concept. I love a dedicated footage-based, period piece, and this was perfectly executed. From the beginning, it lays the groundwork for you to finish the movie feeling like you've witnessed a true captured, and buried, anomaly with minimal suspension of belief, and, in my opinion, it succeeds at that. It's an immersive viewing experience, and my absolute favorite possession film to date. I'll definitely be re-watching it in the future.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsDavid Dastmalchian comes through to carry this film to success. Very well hidden outcome, the road to which will leave you guessing at every turn. Put down that remote - it won't help you here.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsTruly baffled at the positive reception of this movie. It is straight up bad. Poorly written and acted, ridiculous plot, terrible CGI. I like a lot of horror, a lot of trashy horror too, and this didn't do a thing for me whatsoever. Not worth watching whatsoever.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsToo slow, too silly, didn't make sense at all. A few of the scenes were ok but have no clue why this got such high ratings. Not in my book.
