First and foremost: This is a nostalgia film for people who watched the original Toy Story back when they were children in 1995. While this film may be suitable for children, it may be boring to them simply because the themes, problems, and symbolism are all directed towards people nearing their forties. Complicated problems such as hyperfixation and not forgiving yourself for mistakes you've made to the point where you ignore those around you and focus only on your pain are not quite problems that a young child might have, but that plenty of people in their 30s and '40s understand well. This film doesn't amazing job of developing Buzz Lightyear as a relatable figure for those struggling to find purpose in their lives to the point where they may forget how important others are to them. Critical messages about self-care are provided tongue in cheek by Sox the robot cat. There is slapstick comedy and action but first and foremost there is a lot of Communication. Scenes are strung together well for a patient audience who doesn't rely on flashing lights and loud sounds to get them through a film. This film is about heart and learning to care for yourself during changing, difficult times. It's about not losing track of who you are just because you haven't accomplished a goal that you put a lot of effort into. The symbolism of Buzz Lightyear failing his mission can be echoed in those who put their entire lives into gaining a career and not achieving it and feeling lost. Reconnecting with friends and family and learning where your heart lies and how long your life may be and just how much you want to dedicate to a single task Is something this movie does well. Buzz Lightyear is all about life. Sometimes you aren't a hero. Sometimes you don't go to Infinity and beyond. Sometimes home is exactly where you began and exactly what you neglected from the very start. LIGHTYEAR in the end is a film that teaches you it's never too late to stop unhealthy habits, that giving up on something dangerous to you isn't making you a quitter, and that Being Somebody isn't something you ever accomplish Alone.

A Buzz Lightyear film without Buzz Lightyear, what on earth were Pixar/Disney thinking? They were thinking about big box office numbers and certainly NOT about what ticket buying customers wanted. How arrogant of them!

Visually breathtaking due to magnificent animation. Lightyear doesn't feel like a Toy Story movie, it doesn't even feel like a Pixar movie…more like a Star Wars movie. The message of the movie is so well though out for today's society and Chris Evans isn't Tim Allen, but gives his own spin on the character to make it his own.

As long as you have low or don't even have expectations for this movie, it still makes you think that this is a kids version of interstellar

A few funny scene, a slightly different take on time travel, watch if you are bored

Who's ever bright idea it was to replace Tim Allen with Chris Evans should be fired today. Way to ruin this movie .

i literally don't care about everything else but like I don't know why everything needs to show their "real faces" Zurg could've just stayed as Zurg, he didn't need to be controlled by a human. It was a really stupid plot idea. I hated how they portrayed him. But like, whatever, it's not like I need to believe that's canon. I personally don't. I'm lowering the rating for this reason, but everything else is fine I guess. Extra star because Sox is the best part of the movie.

Lightyear is not PIXAR’s most creative film. Its story is very stale and falls flat. And yet through all the nonsense it still has enough humor, action, and excellent animation that provides a simple, entertaining way to pass the time.
