Lightyear

There are some striking designs and a few hat-tips to 2001: A Space Odyssey. But it all feels a bit perfunctory, like a successful launch that has no destination among the stars or anywhere else.

Pixar is encouraging us to dream about a reality in which we could’ve received an Alisha action figure for our birthdays.

The Chris Evans film has little soul, spark and moving moments.

To infinity and beyond? Hardly, but Lightyear does achieve liftoff, and that in and of itself ain’t too bad.

A fairly emotional story about aging and mortality.

For a film which shoots for the stars, this is disappointingly pedestrian stuff.

What the film lacks is the sheer range of characters that made the Toy Story films so enchanting.

Despite some small throwbacks to “Toy Story,” Angus McLane’s film is a darn good time that can stand on its own two feet...

The film offers a good balance between emotion and comedy, although at times the development of the action is hindered by the constant difficulties on Buzz. Despite this, Lightyear is a very entertaining proposal for both adults and children.

Lightyear exceeds all expectations for me & truly goes to infinity & Beyond… an emotional thrilling space Epic that is a true marvel to see in IMAX. This is an incredible experience that I cannot wait to see again! One of Pixar’s Best.
