A bizarre romantic drama based around old Mexico near the TX border, with a family settling an area and dealing with a younger daughter who attracts men easily. So it gets into her affairs with symbolism and metaphors galore. It also had an odd narrative that seemed childish in its storytelling. Despite me being uncomfortable with the motivations that felt immoral, I still was curious what would happen. NYT 1000 movies list and SLC DVD.

A romantic tragedy worth watching. There are moments where you need to figure out why things happen for a reason.

I'm not sure it's all that entertaining. Lots of romantic drama and not sense going on but it is beautifully shot, with lots of food that teases your appetite. Bought on DVD some time ago and got round to watching after being recommended as one of two essential Mexican films to watch.

I watched it again after many years and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. The ending is a tearjerker

We have seen, read, and heard this story iver and over again. The inclusion of food in its narrative make it a little bit different but not enought to feel unique. Way to sugary for most palates. For mexican standards this is very good. He should just have steal her, small dick energy. She cooked some kind of Viagra.
