Lilies
audience Reviews
, 89% Audience Score- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe overt theatrically mostly works as does the drifting in and out of fantasy. Definitely on the better end of indie arthouse movies from the 90s
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsAs another reviewer wrote, this film is full of interesting visualisations, clearly well-adapted from the stage, an intriguing film. However, I felt myself getting a tad bored, I think largely due to my short attention span rather than any issue with the film itself.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of the best stage to screen adaptations in the history of cinema with a sensational performance by the late Brent Carver.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI return to this film again and again. John Greyson did a brilliant job adapting this play for the screen. I love the story. I love the performances. "Lilies" is so beautifully crafted. A must see for anyone interested in queer cinema.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsExtremely imaginative, extremely artistic, extremely creative and extremely compelling. The story was really intriguing, the direction was really imaginative, the way the plot presented to us was really artistic and what brought a freshness into the story. It was really good, I enjoyed every second of this Canadian film.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThis is art at its finest. I absolutely loved this film. It is so intelligent and ambitious - The movement from present to past, prison to memory was breathtakingly well done. Oh, wow. The acting was top notch; I was completely absorbed by the characters. It raises interesting perspectives as it relates to a whole whack of topics and forces audiences to think critically about them. One or two minor plot flaws that didn't quite fit in with the story as a whole, but easy to overlook in favour of this art piece.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsBeautiful queer Canadian film directed by John Greyson.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsBrilliant filmmaking
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsTraumatically bizarre.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsLilies, the symbol of opportunities and innocence.
