Love Actually
audience Reviews
, 72% Audience Score- Rating: 1.5 out of 5 starsThe format of this film is a bold swing, and it’s what people remember most about it. The movie doesn't conform to a traditional 3 act structure, following a central protagonist. This movie instead jumps from one set of characters to another tangently related set of characters. There are roughly 10 different storylines that fight for focus in the film. This format backfires, none of the characters are given the time they need to develop, and none of the stories feel memorable nor important. Of the 10 stories, maybe 4 of them are good, and the rest you look at your watch waiting for a better one to start.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsIt’s one of my all time favorite movies. I am pretty sure most men won’t agree, however no one is going to force someone to see it. I love the way all the different love stories come together in the end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsGreat romantic comedy for the holiday. Fantastic cast and performances. British All Star.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsIt is so bad I want to give it a zero but that’s not possible so I give you a one.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsA Christmas Classic with Charm, Humor, and Heart Yes, Love Actually is cheesy, unrealistic, and deeply sentimental—and yet, it’s also warm, funny, endlessly rewatchable, and packed with iconic moments. It’s not a perfect film, but it knows exactly what it wants to be: a love letter to love itself, in all its messy, heartbreaking, and joyful forms. The ensemble cast is fantastic, and while not every storyline is a home run, the highs far outweigh the lows. Emma Thompson’s quiet devastation in the bedroom scene? Gut-wrenching. Bill Nighy’s hilariously washed-up rockstar routine? Gold. Hugh Grant as the UK’s fantasy-perfect Prime Minister? A guilty pleasure in itself. Some parts feel dated, some plots work better than others (the cue cards… yeah), but it’s hard to deny the film’s emotional punch. Whether it’s the father-son bond between Liam Neeson and his step-son, the budding romance in Portugal, or the utter ridiculousness of Billy Mack, there’s something here that sticks with you. And let’s be honest—it’s hard to imagine Christmas without it now. ✔️ Verdict: Love Actually is deeply flawed, yet undeniably charming, filled with iconic moments, emotional depth, and British humor at its best. It’s a guilty pleasure that earns its place as a holiday classic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI am stunned, two decades later, at the number of people who don't appreciate this movie. The acting, the storyline, the wonderful nuanes ... I feel for those who are so cynical and skepitcal that they can't enjoy such a wonderfully spirited movie. Those who love "It's a Wonderful Life" will appreciate the wonders of this film.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI actully cried all time frr
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsLove Actually is sappy, intertwined, and beautiful. The stories cover the range of emotions, from giddy delight to withering rejection. Emma Thompson alone should have won every award for her scene, alone, in her character’s bedroom after realizing the sadness of her situation. It’s heart-wrenching and incredibly honest and relatable. The other tales are equally, if oppositely, uplifting and absurdly adorable. Anyone who wants to hate on this movie as too complicated and convoluted has lived a very dull life indeed because that’s what life is. It’s an annual classic in our household and will always be so.
