Luka Chuppi

The concept was solid, but the execution was just okay. I wish the film had gone more in-depth in the concept of what, why and how of marriage. Instead, it settles for being a back and forth 'will-they-or-won't-they' scenarios. The songs and Kriti Sanon's acting make it worth watching. Kartik Aryan is serviceable and Pankaj Tripathi's talent is reduced to just a side-character whose sole purpose seems to make fun of Guddu's (Kartik Aryan) elder brother.

Laxman Utekar's 'Luka Chuppi' is never-less-than undelightful, tasteless romantic comedy that's a messy misfire in every sense to be made out of the word. The film is full of inconsistent, mostly forgettable humour, the rest might go to forced gags delivered by an unfortunately talented cast. The leads Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aaryan have no charm or romantic coherence together and there chemistry is chilling close to idiotic.

The current rating of 33% is not a fair reflection of the quality of this movie, imo. It is a well constructed, thoroughly engrossing, hilarious in some passages, movie. The casting is spot on - I can't think of any out of place character. Kriti Sanon is a treat to watch - beautiful as she is, her portrayal of the character is charming. Kartik Aryan is affable, as always. The social commentary in the movie is undeniable, though it is partly overshadowed by the hilarity.

There are numerous things wrong with the storyline, direction etc, but Luka Chuppi is watchable for a. attempting to take a stand on a controversial topic and b. good humour through a likeable set of characters.

"Luka Chuppi" is an acceptable way to pass the time. In terms of Bollywood comedies, you can do a lot worse than this movie, but you can also do a lot better. This movie feels very average in every way. I did find a lot of the situational comedy to be funny but the movie's premise is pretty one-note and lacks any real complexity. I thought the movie had a smart point to make about modern-day relationships in India and I appreciated that. However, when it comes to being entertained, the movie was hit or miss. I liked the two leads in the movie and thought they had decent chemistry overall. Overall, its a movie you could skip, but I was okay with watching it one time.
