Such an amazing cast and yet quite possibly the worst film I have ever seen. Keitel's first line was a painful sign this was going to go nowhere. His second confirmed it. Ed Wood was a much better writer.

Although good actors and some nice intuition, the movie lacks substance, shows an exaggerated romanticism and finally builds an excessively fantastic plot, favoring literary invention over cinematographic construction, which should instead be the center of the work. I saw the movie twice: for the first time when it came out in theaters and then on video twenty years later, because I didn't remember anything, except the faces of the actors, a bit of music and the atmosphere of New York in the 90s. Anyway, if you need something easy, it could be a nice pastime to see it just once, in case you like those actors. Here Dafoe is the best one.

Between 2 and 2.5 stars. The story tells you feelings among characters but, in the global, the plot looks just a not well-worked excuse to display them. At the end, everythings looks quite artifitial and with little meaning, and the expressions achieved are not enough to compensate them.

No make sense. Make Blobbo headblob hurt. Life too short! Not waste here!

I swear I saw this movie several years ago and I thought I liked it, but watching it again today, I was like -- what was I thinking!? What a terrible waste of time. Yuck.

Another pleasantly odd Paul Auster flick.

I'm sorry this is just one of the worst movies of all time. Something about me doesn't want to watch a horrible plot and Willem Dafoe sing 'Singin in the Rain'. Terrible acting and an embarrassment to filmmaking. Easily the worst movie I've ever seen.

A flawed and confusing film that is ruined by it's ending.

lighting was awesome. and fun to see all those familier faces incl lou leed. was it a trend to play with the 'time' or 'other dimention' stuff in late 90s wasn't it.

Disappointed with the depressing ending but the first hour of this movie is great.
