Magpie
audience Reviews
, 80% Audience Score- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat British movie. The storyline does resemble another movie I watched recently but this version is nevertheless my favorite rendition
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsA slow burn but good. Magpie is a great showcase of Daisy Ridley’s acting chops. She shows here that she can tackle a serious and complicated role outside of the Star Wars universe. The movie’s premise is about a family’s young daughter who is an actress who is starring along side a very popular actresss. The husband of the family starts to be infatuated with the actress and descends with being unfaithful to his wife who is played by Daisy Ridley. There is a little bit of cat and mouse game that is played here to effect and it’s a slow burn. Magpie might not be for everyone who is looking for a fast paced thriller. Magpie gets a solid 3 stars out of 5 from me.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsTerrific film all around. Highly recommend.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 starsDaisy Ridley plays one of the most insufferable characters in movie history. She makes Cathy Bates in Misery seem pleasant. Instead of just leaving him, she has to mess with his head for a few months. He is no treat either, instead of just leaving her, he has to cheat.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsYou can predict where the story is going throughout the film but that doesn't make it any less entertaining to see it unfold, & the ending wrapping everything up nicely makes the movie that much better, worth the watch for thriller/drama lovers out there.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsStick with this one. It’s definitely worth the patience.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsGreat thriller but it doesn’t start out like that and you’re going to need a little patience but around midway it starts to pay off handsomely. The really nice gem is that it implements smart phone tech in its cool unique ending twist. Couldn’t have been made 30 years ago. 👍😊
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsSo, first off, fun movie, but secondly, and maybe more importantly, that was some shizz that was pulled. yeah, one of them is an idiot and shouldn't have done what was done, but what was done? Whatever, watch it, its a quick watch and worth the ending.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThe film, directed by Sam Yates, stars Daisy Ridley, Shazad Latif, and Matilda Anna Ingrid Lutz. The plot revolves on a married writer, Ben (Latif), who lives with his housewife, Anette (Daisy), his little daughter, Matilda, and his baby son, Lucas. Matilda is cast as the daughter of Alicia (Matilda), a well-known actress whose homemade s*x film has been leaked. Ben always brings Matilda to the shooting stage, where he falls in love with Alicia. Meanwhile, Anette is left to care for her infant baby while becoming suspicious of her husband's adulterous escapades. The film features a straightforward plot that is neither violent or filled with tense moments. Its finale is the most shocking for the viewers, and the story's clever execution leaves them satisfied. The deception and betrayal are exposed without using physical force, and karma is right around the corner.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsMagpie is a brilliant film that tells the story of a man trying to turn his wife’s confinement into motherhood to his advantage, only to reveal, through a stunning twist, that the opportunity he thought he had was all a lie. The film’s focus on the imbalance of responsibility in parenting was, for me, more than enough reason to watch. But the twist at the end of the film completely changes everything, leaving not only Ben but also the audience in shock. And, of course, the truth revealed at the end shifts the meaning of everything we’ve watched throughout the film.
