One of the best action movies ever made, as always critics have no idea what they re talking about and spending their life watching movies either made them unable to appreciate the good ones, or made them corrupt

This one of the best movies ever made..I cannot believe the critics score of this movie, but it really says a lot about these morons who “review” movies.. This is a film about REDEMPTION, LOVE, SACRIFICE and the overall PURPOSE of life itself..Yes it was very violent, but in my opinion very NECESSARILY violent.. This was a story about a broken, damned man, who was at the complete end of his rope, because he had nothing left to live for - and was haunted by the memories of all the terrible things he had done (presumably for the government).. He asks in the beginning of his friend if God would forgive them for the things they did..And I believe throughout this movie, he gets his question answered - starting with a gun mysteriously not firing.. I’m not going to divulge any more spoilers, but if you watch this movie through that lens of understanding, and realize what it’s really about? You will find that this one of those classic screen gems you likely will never forget. ALL of this apparently, went directly over the “critics” heads, or they just didn’t care..This movie is a work of poetic art, and has a very, very profound message - The only question is: Will you get its real message?

Can a film be more than art? Washington plays his part beyond what was called for and brings the audience on more than a thrill ride, it is a revenge film at heart but Denzel was made for this type of movie... even better than the equaliser films he's known for... i just wished he'd do another MOF.

Fantastic film. Simple story (thank goodness for a change) but simultaneously exciting and touching at the same time. Denzel Washington is terrific in it.

The critics are clueless on this one....This is a top notch emotionally charged movie....One of my favorite Denzel movies of all time...

Wow, it is it me, but every time Dakota Fanning comes on she lights up the screen and makes it interesting. Some people are destined for jobs and being an actor, movie star, was Fanning's. I have watched plenty of kidnapping stories, but the relationship that Fanning and Washington's characters developed was real. Authentic love, laughter, concern (enough to risk lives). Their characters prove love can come whether born into it or not. Plenty of enduring moments. Showing us the biggest heroes often can be considered "flawed" people. Then the darker parts come up with kidnapping and kids. There was no sugar-coating. People are willing to kidnap and kill kids for money. This should make any person get a shiver. Overall, a solid movie. Interesting ensemble cast, dramatic storyline and script.

I think the critics are clueless this is in my top 3 movies of all time. Sad I normally rate rotten tomatoes highly but not this time. How could you get the score so wrong. Amazing story great work writers actors and directors!

Criminally underrated by critics. Plot is a bit basic but great performance by Denzel, and in my opinion a solid revenge movie. One critic stated “very violent, not for children”, uh yea it’s an r rated Tony Scott revenge movie of course it’s not for kids.

I think this is Denzel's best movie. It's about a man who has lost purpose in his life after serving his country and considers suicide. He takes what seems to be a meaningless job, that is to be a Bodyguard for a child. He then becomes a mentor and protector to her. As he finds meaning to life again she is abducted. He then commits his life to getting her back. Top ten movie easy.
