her name would forever go down in history as the Indian Queen of Jhansi or Lakshmi Bai fighting for independence from the British rule taking place in the late 1800's Kangana Ranaut plays Manikarnika or 'Manu' is the daughter of Moropant; she has no husband and instead lives by the ways of the warrior the British mean to take her country if an heir isn't present but Manikarnika isn't willing to let that happen she also starts to see how her people are suffering being denied their cattle and their villages being burnt if they're not able to pay their taxes Shadashiv Rao wants to inherit the kingdom and will not bow to a woman in charge even if it is the Queen Manikarnika loses her husband and her baby sadly so traditionally she would have to live a widow's lifestyle but not her, instead she would vow to protect the freedoms of her kingdom so she takes it upon herself to drain dozens of women in combat to rise up and remove the shackles of Jhansi, no longer would she let India be slave to anyone and become the flame that would ignite freedom in everyone's heart by the time it gets to the final battle of the palace and the battle field it's actually well-filmed and seeing all these warriors rally behind the Queen is an uplifting quality words without culture have no meaning, only the wise deserve the throne, not the greedy, while fighting for justice reasoning often gets distorted, it's not a throne that makes a queen its the love from her people, why differentiate between a man and a woman if they lay down their life?, what good is triumph over the enemy if no one cares, we raise our future generations to not grieve over past destrructions but to celebrate freedom the scope is amazing, the costumes are so well-detailed, the politics are carefully handled, the battle scenes are brutal and intense, and Manikarnika makes for a badass historical warrior royal willing to give her life for her people's freedom sure some things may have been tinkered with as far as accuracy is concerned and some of the action is a bit over-stylized but believe me when I say this version of India's bravest queen is way more compelling than that other poor attempt

Once again in History of India, Kangana reminds us that we got freedom in cost of blood, sacrifice of many our ancestor for better life of us.

Kangana failed to depict the "Queen of Jhansi" completely. She should have take some more details about the real queen.

Must watch..love this film

The CGI/VFX detoriates as the movie moves forward and final battle scene was totally on Green Background. The movie carries the story in most of the accuracy what we have so far learned. Some might not be convinced by the ending shown by the crew. Acting skills by Kangna and Jishan Aayub were amazing. They showed potential by taking up challenging roles opposite/different than what they were potraying in the past. But not too much input provided by other actors. Songs were totally unneeded. Actions, Dialogues, Screenplay and Narration saved the sinking ship.

'Manikarnika' is a pretty much good film with a sincere mainstream appeal. It is solid in its storytelling, and the film is a smashing ode to our feminist queen. 'Manikarnika' released at the beginning of the year. Frankly, the story comes with manipulation and there's jingoism into the gallery. But Kangana does all of it surprisingly right with her performance as the warrior queen of Jhansi, Rani Lakshmibai. She has the echoing voice of a true patriot, a beat of motivation infused in her brilliance as an actor: when she shouts 'Hara Hara Mahadev!' the war cry, you feel that these words have been written in your heart. Such is her performance, that when she'll cry as her baby dies, you'll get tears in your eyes. And as she dies, you'll want to say, "Take a bow, Rani!" She adds flare and the magic formula which is needed to make a jingoistic film a less-than-forgettable period piece. You'll love how she flaunts the Marathi Neeta Lulla silk sarees. Her performance is an entertaining one.

kangana owns the show by her acting and directing.. beautiful tale of Rani Laxmi bai in a wonder woman theme action
