This was a fun movie to watch with my young son who loves video games. Great cast too.

    Better than megamind 2.

Enjoyed this nerdy, affectionately goofy, little romp a lot more than I was expecting to. It doesn't hurt that I'm a die hard retro gamer and lover of fantasy in general, so it was right in my wheelhouse thematically. It's obviously not had an AAA budget lavished on it but its much more enjoyable, on its own terms, than many big budget movies I've seen recently. The talented cast all do well in their roles and there's a feeling of genuine affection towards the subject matter. It's currently showing for free on Pluto, so it would be daft not to give it a watch to see what you think.

I saw this movie a while back and wanted to show it to my young son. I couldn't remember the title correctly and kept searching for Max Hardcore and The Finger Blasters. Needless to say, I kept getting results for films not intended for children. This is a much better movie than the name implies and is one of the best video game movies I've ever seen. If you're looking for a light-hearted, fun, sci-fi flick, give this one a shot.

I went in to watching the movie hoping for a campy, nerdy, comedy that would be easy to watch; I had high hopes that if Kevin Smith was in it, it would be good. It had none of what I had hoped for. The acting was terrible, and definitely not in a campy way; none of the actors were believable in their roles, the character development was terrible, the dialog was hard to even listen to, and none of the characters had remotely realistic personalities. The story was terrible; there was no commitment to a style or genre, the settings were bad, there was no real flow or progression to the story, and the action and dialog throughout the movie never really contributed to the actual story. Even though it was released in 2020 it felt like they were trying to give the movie a late 90's early 2000's vibe and emulate what made movies from that era fun and great, but they failed miserably at that. The jokes didn't land, the relationships didn't hit, and what was meant to seem campy and fun came off as bad acting. The movie overall seemed to have very little substance to cling to and it was a struggle to sit through the entire thing, although I wouldn't tell people to never watch it I would tell them to be prepared to regret watching it at the end.

A tribute to the last starfighter and jumanji (Robin Williams) with modern gaming themes it doesn't really fit into either . Like playing NES games on a 2ghz 32gig intel i7.

As a big nerd I was able to overlook the cringe nerdiness of some parts of this, which are also part of the charm in the end. It was entertaining enough this deep into the pandemic (where I've seen every movie ever) IMO but wouldn't rewatch

Fun movie; Strong nod to the gamers born in the 80s. Think a sci-fi 'Grandma's Boy' with a little more of a purpose. Shoutout to Greg Grinberg!

So much potential in this movie (I am a huge nerd) the entire movie you are waiting for the big battle scene then you get to the end and it cuts away from the big battle, then there is another one and it's im slow mo! So bad
