Some cool action but it all got lost together. Nothing stood out

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, the fourth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, delivers exactly what fans love about these films: high-stakes action, clever set-pieces, and a team dynamic that feels both exhilarating and intimate.
This installment is particularly exciting because it brings Jeremy Renner into the fold alongside Tom Cruise, adding a fresh face to the already well-established team. Renner’s performance adds a nice layer to the story — a character wrestling with his own doubts and past — which plays nicely against the confidence and resolve of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt.
The direction here is phenomenal. Brad Bird, making his live-action debut after years of success in animation with films like The Incredibles, brings a unique cinematic style to the franchise. His action sequences are energetic, ambitious, and filled with a clever creativity that makes Ghost Protocol a perfect blend of pure action and cinematic artistry.
The story itself is well constructed, delivering an exhilarating mission from start to finish. The character writing is strong — you care about these people, you want them to pull it off — and the set-up nicely merges the team’s past missions with the future direction of the franchise. There’s a wonderful balance between honoring what came before and adding something fresh and new.
I appreciate how this installment finds its groove after the missteps of the second film and the strong comeback of the third. It feels like Ghost Protocol is where the franchise truly finds its stride — delivering a sophisticated, action-packed thriller that stands on its own while strengthening the overall story.
Of course, there are a few minor weaknesses — some small moments that feel rushed or convenient — but these are easily overshadowed by the film’s numerous highlights. The set-pieces, the character dynamics, and the clever use of locations (like that iconic scene scaling the Burj Khalifa in Dubai) all come together to make this a must-watch for action fans.
Having gone back and binge-watched the Mission: Impossible films in order, I appreciate Ghost Protocol all the more. It successfully brings back the magic of the first film while adding a rich new texture to the franchise. It’s a perfect blend of action, character, and story — a true highlight in a remarkable series — and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a clever, exhilarating ride.

Amazing movie, definitely one of the best, if not the best Mission Impossible movie in the series. Great story, wildly entertaining, extremely tense, and at times, intentionally corny, this film had so much to enjoy for everyone while also staying grounded. There was a lot of funny moments, and the pacing of the film was peak. Great film that breathes a new life into the franchise. Awesome film.

Spoilers. The scene with the crew trying to be in two places at once while tricking the assassin is what really sold this movie. It was an experience

🔥 Hot take: M:I 3 is better than Ghost protocol. Fight me! Davian is a much better antagonist than Hendricks in this film. His weird motivations really push me off here. I enjoy Benji and Brant, though Luther only shows up in the last 10 minutes! Why?! Brant's arc is cut short when we reveal that Jules is alive. But the action scenes are amazing, and Tom gives his best performance yet. The Kremlin scene is great, and the Burj Kalifa scene is amazing, I don't care for Agent Carter, because I didn't care for Callaway, he felt like the Walmart version of Ethan Hunt. (Which he was) Still a great movie!

I loved the action sequences but the story and villain where unmemorable and parts of the story just didn't flow together but I enjoyed the craziness of Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise
