A captivating and gritty look at everyday lives. This film captures seemingly simple moments, but at the same time, tackles big issues, like abuse, sexuality, and family dynamics. I enjoyed it very much, and identified with it at many points throughout.

This had so many upsetting parts. It was just scene after scene of crises, abuse, poverty, and decline. It was hard to watch at times, but to me, it shows how poverty and crime and abuse are often linked. It also illustrated how abuse can be an ongoing cycle with detrimental effects to those involved. Worth watching.

Emotionally charged. Tense. She truly gets to the heart of chaos in a family plagued by a generational curse. Raw and unforgiving but beautifully cut.

A sad, sad tale of abuse and poverty. Vicious cycle can't seem to be broken⦠the misery and tragedy keeps repeating. The women seem to be the victims of their pathetic environment. It's all about sex and money, and there seems no way to get beyond it! Yet an education seems like the only way to open any door towards freedom, independence and enlightenment. Strong story of survival. All you want is for Kari to get out and succeed.

This unknown film captivated us tonight. Strong characters, confusing family connections, a sometimes annoying bouncy camera, and juxtaposing of the strong core and harsh family abuse made for a draining, involving experience.

Great movie! So many touchy subjects!

Good movie about the trappings of life in the South and the hope that can arise from a seemingly hopeless situation. Education is one of the keys to freedom and a renewed mindset.
