A Late 90s-Early 00's Inspired Horror Gem Monster Summer is a nostalgic throwback to the classic horror films of the 90s, blending coming-of-age drama with supernatural thrills. Director David Henrie masterfully captures the essence of a summer gone wrong, injecting a healthy dose of creature feature fun. The film follows Noah and his friends as they navigate the challenges of adolescence while confronting a monstrous threat lurking beneath the surface of their idyllic island paradise. Mel Gibson delivers a solid performance as the grizzled detective who guides the young protagonists on their perilous journey. The young actors, Mason Thames and Julian Lerner, bring energy and authenticity to their roles, making their characters both relatable and endearing. While the plot may not break new ground, if I were a teenager in the 90s and early 2000's, Monster Summer would have been an instant classic. It's a nostalgic trip down memory lane for older viewers and a thrilling introduction to horror for a new generation.

I Don't really care for the so called movie critics, the movie had something special and it worked, will for a PG13 movie the special effects was good. the acting from the kids and some of the adults could have been better, but not as bad as a tube or hallmark movies. the plot had me interested not hooked except when both characters want to bed the mental warfare was done well.

Great family movie in an age where good family movies are rare.

Monster Summer is a great, family friendly spooky movie. It has DCOM vibes in the best way. Mason Thames is a star. I cannot wait to see what he does next.

A good popcorn movie. It had a few pops. It would be a good introduction to the horror genre to first timers.

Loved this movie! Well done! I don’t know why it won’t let me give it 5 stars! It’s a kid horror movie but not horrifying. Adults will also enjoy! Just a good fun mystery/horror story and you’ll never guess who the real villain is! Great plot twist!

Some supporting acting was weak. Parts of plot were ridiculous, but common in scary movies. Mel Gibson was good as usual. There were a few gotcha jump in your seats scenes. I was hoping for a 3 star movie, but it was pretty weak.
