Better than the first movie because of the universe expansion! The new characters are great, and the idea of a monster college is a great idea! I just love how there’s a certain science to scaring and how’s monsters can be scary in their own special way. That’s really creative and clever!

An Okay Prequel To Monsters, Inc.

By no means I was especting such a waste of a caracter as the director, all along the movie, she come across as someone that is in development process, awaiting for conveing her real character (and the porpouse of the film, pershap as a wishful thinking). The treatment of the world is in the best case, in the surface level, that, unfortunaly, is deeply coherent with the complexity of the plot, which was mosly supported in memorabe characters, (for the other movie, clearly), who here were seen reduced into basic, simple, and zero-appealing versions. The movie may be worthly for a while, and no wonder that the experience even reach to be fun, but, at the very least, is interesting imagine, what would be this film, without the natural conection with the glory of the original.

Why not as good as the classic, it's still wonderful seeing the monsters back

It sucked! I hated everything about it! The way they treated Mike and Sulley was just out of character! And the ending was terrible! How could they be in the scaring company if they were expelled from the school of the same name as the movie?! They can't just go to Monsters Incorporated and take every available job in there without a diploma! What about Randall?! How did he get in the scaring company after he got humiliated by Sulley?! What about the monsters in this movie?! If the staff in school were so impressed with their moves, why weren't they in the first movie?! This movie completely ruined the franchise! Just watch the first movie Monsters Inc. and the sequel Disney+ series Monsters at Work and you'll see how better they are than this nightmare movie!

While it is not nearly as good as Monsters Inc., it is still an enjoyable prequel. 7/10.

Although it understandably doesn't hold the same kind of magic as "Monsters, Inc." and although sometimes the mechanics of the plot don't feel particularly original, this prequel is consistently enjoyable and engaging, not to mention that it somehow holds its fair share of surprises to boot, including the existence of the entire last act past the Scare Games part, and the finale, which doesn't give in to the easy happy end recipe and shows consideration for the kind of message the story conveys.

I can't shake the feeling that nobody wanted this movie, though despite this Monster's University is quite well made. It has a mature, well-delivered message, and some real thought and care went into the worldbuilding. It's nothing special by Pixar standards but there is real heart here - I expected it to be lazier.
