Moving On

, 70% Audience Score- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI was expecting another fluffy feel-good comedy featuring older ladies, but this one had surprisingly edgy (though not consistent) aspects. Tomlin’s character is more or less the familiar persona that we’ve come to love, but Fonda’s character carries a sadness and suppressed anger that really gives Fonda something to play, to act. The supporting cast is great, too. In spite of some tonal inconsistencies, certainly one of the better entries in the genre.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThe acting is so good that makes you forget the little ambition the script, and the directing, has on these two great talents. There is a tone-genre problem all along. Comedy it isn't, but drama also fails to unfold its full potential.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThis idea of the filmmaker made the movie more accessible to more people.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI really liked the talented actors
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFantastic writing, acting and production.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsJust a nice movie with older stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin explicitly showing their age and how to deal with the twilight of life, though it does involve murderous thoughts, for different reasons, of the widower of one of a college triad of friends.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreat plot, great acting, kept you interested the entire time. Raw but also sweet, a movie that tackles some serious topics but also is light fun. Absolutely loved!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThis was a good movie. It gives the viewer an idea of what it is like to be old, and how bad events of the past can stay with us all our lives. I recommend seeing this movie.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsI found it very entertaining! Lilly and Jane are still amazing in this. I found myself still laughing at these two over the shenanigans they encounter. Definitely some dry or dark humor but I like that kinda stuff!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsA totally expected excellent movie. And truly, "I laughed, I cried", tho in reverse order. I just saw the embarrassing 80 for Brady, and did not think this would be any better, but I was wrong. Each actor was perfect for the role and there wasn't an unplanned awkward moment. It hit on a lot of sensitive topics, but shoved nothing in your face. Not for kids, but worth seeing for anyone over their teens and a good movie for an after screening discussion. I feel sorry for those it offended—perhaps you need to get out of your bubble and meet people unlike you.
