Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

It’s candy floss and cliché, but it works because Fabian’s characters, while stereotypes to some extent, are given room for empathy and error.

Manville is perfect in the title role and the film, though fanciful, is very easy to take.

It's a familiar formula but that's part of the charm.

The film’s designers spent a lot of time exploring the Dior archives and it shows. It’s Mrs Harris’s story, but it’s also a fond tribute to a world that has changed beyond recognition.

What’s so lovely is that Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris is a celebration of beauty and the importance of cherishing those special things in life that may seem silly to others but make us feel most like ourselves.

It’s unabashed froth, as substantial as a tulle skirt. And perhaps that’s exactly what we need right now.

Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris is, at its core, Paddington 2 (2017) for elderly women. With that being said though, the film manages to be so full of life and charm that its appeal becomes universal.

da advocates for weaponized incompetence, women performing all the practical labor but not having any authority or a right to make any decisions. Women do not own their labor, it is owed for the world to function even when they are not respected.
