    A little to predictable

Overall a decent movie that builds the story of the beloved Lion King franchise. The film is very visually pleasing and the story telling is good. However the film seemed like it lacked depth and had some questionable scenes and numbers such as the song “bye, bye.” Would have liked to see more about Taka post arrival to Milele. In sum, it is definitely worth seeing but not something I am dying to see again.

How did Scar, one of the most famous Disney villains, become Scar?...well a woman of course! So lame.

Barry Jenkins brings us Disney’s latest live action project in the form of Mufasa: The Lion King. Served as a prequel to the beloved The Lion King, the movie is the origin story to one of Disney animation’s most adored characters. The animation is great throughout and is an improvement on 2019’s The Lion King. Storywise, it delivers almost identical beats to The Lion King and attempts to give fan service moments that relate back to the original movie. However it fails to live up to it in almost every way. The songs simply aren’t good. Whilst the original features timeless classics that are upbeat and charged with emotion, these are unmemorable and feel like fillers to puff out the runtime. The voicework is the only positive I have. Aaron Pierre had some monumental shoes to fill from the one and only James Earl Jones but manages to deliver a great voice for Mufasa, making the character his own. Kelvin Harrison Jr doesn’t quite have the same impact as the iconic Jeremy Irons portraying Scar (Taka) but does do his own interpretation well enough. Mads Mikkelsen’s voice is instantly recognisable and, as always, plays the villain with ease. Mufasa: The Lion King isn’t the worst entry for the Disney live action movies, but it is simply just watchable. Save this one for the kids. 5/10

Great action, great humor (just the right amount) and they captured the human aspect of Superman. the other characters (Lex, Lois, Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Jimmy) were all well done as well. I give it a 10..

A very bad story line and even worse script.

Shame on the “critics.” They seem to forget the film’s intended audience is children. Not everything needs to be some gritty, Oscar-worthy drama. Sometimes, it’s just about wonder, imagination, and joy. We need to watch movies like this with our childhood spirit and appreciate how far technology has come. I loved the photorealistic animation. It was stunning and immersive, and the story felt original while still honoring the heart of The Lion King. It gave Mufasa depth and emotion in a way we’ve never seen before. The music was beautiful, the voice acting was strong, and it brought the Pride Lands to life all over again. I’m genuinely happy to hear the film made nearly 800 million in theaters. That’s proof family movies are critic proof. Parents and kids showed up, and that’s what matters. The Lion King universe should definitely keep making more of these. There’s still so much heart and legacy left to explore.

We were not fans of the revised heroine version. I appreciate the sentiment but these are classic, beloved stories that hold a place in our childhoods and hearts. Wish they would have remained true to it.

I didn’t think we needed a prequel, but it wasn’t half bad.
