Daughter sets grieving widowed father up with women on dating apps and has them encounter each other in public, where the woman thinks they are meeting up for a date, and the dad thinks these are weird random women approaching him. This would be fine enough, but then a sobbing woman approaches him calling out his name and seeking his solace, turns out a pitpull had just ripped her chihuahuas throat out in front of her and he bled out in her arms. Dad has no idea who she is, and daughter and friend witness this with what seemed like shocked amusement, and the whole scene seemed to be played off for a laugh. No empathy for this woman who has just been deeply traumatized and now is also being treated like a crazy random woman by the man she thinks she's been communicating with online and is supposed to be meeting for a date. This was so disturbing and unfunny that it ruined the movie

While there is a good storyline about dealing with grief and moving on, it is eclipsed by the emotionally unstable father who is clearly an alcoholic without any resolution to his drinking issues. We are also left with the distinct possibility the mother was an alcoholic as well and that may have led to the car crash which killed her. The movie was not the feel-good movie about a single dad raising his daughter that I was hoping for.

Not worth it. It was described as lighthearted and is the exact opposite. The main theme is grief and loss. The characters are miserable and down. The dad is angry. There is no humor to offset the depressing mood. I didn't laugh once. Skip it.

Not funny at all. Dad is a disgusting jerk and nothing about him makes the viewer want to root for a happy ending. He doesn't seem to like his daughter and berates her throughout the movie.

I thought it was a good movie. Comedic but also heavy hearted. Grief was a main component in this movie and the characters are trying to navigate their loss whilst retaining some normalcy. Not as terrible as everyone is making it out to seem.

The description said it was “Light hearted, amusing and charming.”. It was neither of the three. I disliked this movie. It was not a feel good movie to me. Quite the bummer, actually.

This movie said it was a comedy... I figured that the dad would be going on all these hysterical Christmas dates that his daughter conjured up... It was a very depressing movie. The father was extremely angry and took out a lot of anger on an old fling or friend for no reason..... The daughter was lashing out her anger and her frustration over grieving her mother......the movie was just so sad... So depressing... Why did they call this a comedy!!!!!

I didn’t quit the movie, so partial score for that. The father is a complete ahole that comes off as smug and narcissistic. His disassociating throughout the film felt poorly portrayed and unrealistic. He is a total ahole to people in his life and isn’t held accountable at all. What the heck was up with him being absolutely brutal to his old friend/date for no good reason, and just days later he is ok with moving on when a rando basic blonde out of nowhere sits by him? He was looking at her really shifty and I would have immediately been uncomfortable and left if I had been in her shoes. His daughter gave him ample red flags that she was troubled but he has zero emotional intelligence … and yet the whole premise is that we are supposed to care about whether or not he moves on? I felt bad for his kid, his ex, his old friend, and everyone else that has to look at him.

All characters are extremely hateable. Shrew of a daughter tries to set up a thinly sanatized wife-beater father. Even the dead mom's shows up to wave sappily at a sobbing teenager like a jackass. Movie doesn't bother with character development until the last 5 minutes so you're stuck with these assholes for the whole movie and don't feel bad for them. A priest says something trite at the end and the father gets a semi for some random woman sitting next to him in church. What a slam dunk.
