My Hero Academia: You're Next

The fourth movie in the long-running anime franchise brings quirky fun to a bad year for superheroes. You're Next is most definitely not for newcomers, but devoted fans will get a major kick out of its wit and intensity.


Where it differentiates itself is in its relentlessly insane character design, which inspires equal parts awe and laughs – although the film’s attempt to jam dozens of characters into the action is a clear-cut case of quantity over quality.

With a well-paced narrative that balances action and comedy, the film ensures an engaging ride for both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

A film that's lot of fun, lots of action, and if you're one of Deku's many fans, you have a lot of fun at it.

With its uneven animation, groan-worthy dialogue, and an array of one-dimensional villains, You’re Next feels like it’s going out of its way to let you know it’s unnecessary.

Enjoy it for what it is: more My Hero but don’t expect too much more than that.

Particularly the opening and closing action setpieces are as good if not better than anything we have gotten from Marvel for some time.
