No One Will Save You

Dever gives a charged performance defined by her physical commitment and latent traces of regret. It’s an anchor that holds a tenuous story in place for most of Brian Duffield’s movie, although landing the haywire conclusion is beyond even Dever’s reach.

Dever is simply exceptional. And the movie as a whole is about as high quality of a genre picture as you could hope to find while scrolling through Hulu.

This nearly dialogue-less feat is entirely carried by Dever’s performance.

A close encounter of the wordless kind, this is a smart and splendidly scary horror sci-fi, with a brilliantly brittle turn from Kaitlyn Dever.

In Duffield’s capable hands, a journey through self-forgiveness gets transformed into a propulsive, nerve-fraying sci-fi twist on home invasion horror.

By the end of the rambling mess of a last act, it’s clear that no one could have saved this.

Kaitlyn Dever’s arresting performance keeps this alien invasion outing together, though she is limited by the almost complete lack of dialogue in the narrative, and the final stretch not doing her justice.

Like all good horror films, No One Will Save You plays with your existing fears by mapping them onto some external threat.

Thanks to an excellent script and a wonderful performance from Kaityln Dever, No One Will Save You manages to succinctly convey the rich inner life of its single character with barely any dialogue. A hyper-efficient and exciting thrill-ride.
