, 84% Audience Score- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsFun as hell, nonstop action thrill ride (to borrow a phrase). Jack Quaid is always a delight to watch. Creative fight scenes that add a tangibility to the brutal action.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsJack Quaid stars in Dan Berk and Robert Olsen’s Novocaine. A high-octane, over the top action thriller that is both completely ridiculous and so much fun. Quaid’s world gets turned upside down when he meets new colleague Sherry (played by Amber Midthunder) as she begins to make him feel and do things he never thought possible. After she is kidnapped during a bank robbery where they both work, Quaid must do everything in his power to locate her, even if that includes hurting himself really badly. Incapable of feeling pain, Quaid’s character goes through some brutal body trauma. From putting his hand in a deep fat fryer to getting stabbed, Quaid does a great job showing no pain whilst being incredibly awkward. It’s almost like a messed up super power in ‘The Boys’. The fighting scenes are pretty fun to see unfold and you can tell the writers had a great time thinking of all the different ways to showcase what lack of pain levels Quaid’s character can go through. They are completely over the top but carried out in a light hearted way. The twist was so predictable I almost laughed out loud, but it doesn’t stop the movie from being a blast. If you’re looking to switch your brain off for a couple hours then this is definitely for you. 7/10
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsNovacaine takes a creative leap to do a comedy/action movie and scores big Quaid is very good in it and is far better than I imagined he could do in an action -ish role. His star is definitely continuing to rise. There’s enough of a plot/story here to satisfy, which gets us to some incredibly creative fight scenes. If you want to just sit, zone out and have a good time while watching a film, Novacaine will not disappoint.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsI overall enjoyed this movie, I thought the characters were overall good and found the concept unique and interesting. I felt the story was good lacking a little bit of detail in certain parts but for the most part very good. The movie kept my attention the entire time and I would watch again.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsJack Quaid has his father’s charm, but the unique leverage of his own quirky character, this was fun, gory and inventive in the many ways you can die lmao, every scene felt fun. I’ll be honest I thought he would be quite the one dimensional performance given his positioning in The Boys but I am proven wrong and I’m glad about it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsNovocaine is a darkly funny, twisted ride with just the right amount of chaos. Jack Quaid brings the perfect mix of awkward charm and slow unraveling, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. The humor is clever and offbeat, and the film keeps you guessing in the best way. A sharp, underrated gem.
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsA newfound gimmick punches with intrigue, and Jack Quaid’s effortless charm has a satirical edge as the creative usage for disregarding mortality very loosely through exceptionally humorous deliverance without forgetting the sincere humanity he’s brought to the “armored” role amid the cruel violence that doesn’t wash away the decent entertainment value’s deterring expectancy.
