Walken and Heard are great. Not sure why people are so negative here. Thought it was funny.

    and I love Christopher Walken....

Bored me to tears… I absolutely love Christopher Walken but this flick is a clunker in every respect; weak story, weak script, weak character development. I find Amber Heard to be a stunning woman and her acting was solid in this piece, but I felt nothing toward her character, ambivalent. If anything, I was more absorbed by Kelli Garner's performance. Hamish Linklater, a tremendous actor, is reduced to a lampshade here, a wasted role for his talent. All in all, meh x 4.

This was a hard movie to watch. Never been a fan of Amber Heard, but I love Christopher Walken. He plays the sad, pathetic crooner deluding himself that he is still good enough to make a comeback in the music industry to the hilt. The movie is slow and plodding. The rest of the characters are not developed well at all. Waste of time. I turned it off at about 45 minutes into it.

This is a gem of a movie! As a long time Christopher Walken fan, that's all I needed to give this film a try. Amber Heard is wonderful as a stuck between bad & terrible decisions young woman, sulking in the faded limelight of her father's attempts at regaining the shine to his stardom. The dialogue is sharp & witty with many causally flung 1-liners help to knit this family story into a very watchable and enjoyable addition to Christopher Walkin's extensive catalog of films. Highly recommended!

Maybe if they'd toned down the pretentious dialog and focused on character development I would've cared a little more.

this is one of those films where i liked for reasons that only i will understand and know that its prob a hard watch for others. for me it stands out in the heavy character and dialog scenes that dont feel like forced scenes/ its different then people obbessed with just writing a shitton of dialog because they dont have any clue how to tie it into visuals. this read more as a structure for those visuals.
