Lots of continuity errors particularly with Mila Kunis in beginning, one scene lipstick is perfect, next cut, none, pretty pedestrian affair

how was this not considered a masterpiece? An elegant and brilliantly written and casted prequel-sequel. It captures the spirit of the original and tells an immaculate origin story superior to all the corny superhero stories told by other Disney features. The various supporting characters are filled with personality and Franco is at his best.

Além de ser um remake desnecessário, tem uma trama pretensiosa e não traz a essência do original (nenhum filme irá conseguir isso).

This was a great movie with a fresh view on a old time classic! I wish there was a sequel!

This Wizard of Oz prequel was pretty good. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Joey King, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was kind of entertaining but peculiar. It's about what the Wizard of Oz was really like and how he saved Oz from the evil witches. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you might like it. That's my opinion.

10 years old and I still actually enjoy this prequel to the 1939 original Sam Raimi of 'Evil Dead' and 'Spider-Man' helms the origin of the wizard of the Emerald City played by James Franco A giant cast includes Michelle Williams, Zach Braff, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Bruce Campbell Starting out much like the previous film entirely in black-and-white in pan scan ratio Oscar or 'Oz' is a famous magician in Kansas 1903 While in Kansas Oz doesn't want to be any man but a great one, he wants to accomplish so much before he dies Achieving greatness is his wish despite the fact he's been labeled a fraud as well as a womanizer As with Dorothy Oz gets caught in the middle of a tornado storm and in his hot air balloon he is whisked away to the magical land of Oz filled with all kinds of amazing creatures, witches, talking animals Plus it has all the familiar things like the flying monkeys, the Cowardly Lion, the scarecrow, Glenda the Good Witch, and the Munchkins He is prophecized by Theodora to bring peace to the land and defeat the wicked witch therefore claiming his throne, her sister Evanora is the royal advisor but might have more on her plate Assisting his quest is a monkey Finley and a porcelain doll It's actually pretty heartbreaking with an early scene with Joey King wondering if Oz is who he says he is But the man gets to prove he's more than he seems, that he's capable of greatness The film is super gorgeous to look at, the 3D effects are used effectively, the cast is excellent, the set and art design is amazing, and this lays the foundation for things to come The music, the pacing, and the acting are magical almost capturing the spirit of the older film Raimi's signature style is present as well with the crazy camera angles, intense camera work, and the various horror elements expanding this fantasy world My heart was actually in suspense the whole time wondering who would become the iconic wicked witch A very good nod to 'Wizard of Oz' without stepping so much on its legacy with a standing performance by James Franco as a reluctant hero with layers

I felt the storyline was good and used today's special effects well. The original Wizard of OZ is still a classic but I would like to see it remade as a follow up to this movie.

Oz the Great and Powerful relies on a great cast and tries to blend lesser-known elements of the Oz books with a new twist on the Wizard's origin story. Unfortunately, the film is mostly an overly long wash of CGI excess and cheap production quality. As a lover of all things Oz, I didn't expect this film to be a home run, but it does have its sweet moments.
