A dumb premise that leads to bloodless series of embarrassingly bad non-events.

By far the worst PA film, The Ghost Dimension takes all the worst parts of the franchise and doubles down on them, while removing everything interesting and good, save for a couple moments of solid effects work. Even as a fan of Paranormal Activity, I can't recommend this. Jaws: The Revenge was a more entertaining sequel, and that says something.

'Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension' dropped in 2015 and really ramped up the franchise to make some startling reveals and tie up this ongoing story. SYNOPSIS: 'Using a special camera that can see spirits, a family must protect their daughter from an evil entity with a sinister plan.' As per 'Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension' the original synopsis I'd read led me into believing this story was going in a different direction. I was wrong, and this film is probably more connected than the other sequels. This film looks to fill in some of the gaps, and answer questions, which came from the third film's ending. It does this really well, through archival video footage, which has its own spooky foreboding. What we realise here though is there's a grand conspiracy, probably national, to satisfy the demon 'Tobi' and his followers. It's a lot bigger than I think anyone following this franchise could've ever believed. And that's brilliant! There's a real story here. That plus some incredible practical effects, dark tension and jump scares aplenty makes this a brilliant watch. Especially if, like me, you're invested in this story. I do have a couple of issues though: 1) if the camera they find is the camera from the third film, and it can see spirits now, why couldn't it see spirits in the third film? 2) did we really need to see 'Tobi'? Or this gooey liquid thing which looks like something out of 'House of Haunted Hill'? If you're going to do it make the CGI look good. This is a big failure here and knocks this film down for me. Not the films fault, but I was gutted to find out the version I was watching had the alternative 'nice' family ending and not the bloody scarefest the film was originally released with. Annoying. At the time of release this was to be the last film in the franchise and I guess it would've been a satisfying closure to the story. Unfortunately there's more to come. However, this is a great addition to the franchise and only falls down by trying to show the viewer too much. 7/10

Paranormal activity:The Ghost Dimension is the stupidest attempt to parasitize a beloved franchise! It's not even worth the attention!

Look, all of these movies are stupid to a certain degree but turning it into a bad special effects extravaganza was conceivably the stupidest. Also getting to "see the activity" spoils what works best about these movies.

It's not worth watching any Paranormal The actors are just walking around with a camera.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension was an utter waste of time, offering nothing but cheap scares and a sloppy plot, leaving me thoroughly unimpressed with (thankfully) the final instalment in the series.

Inessential sequel which adds damage to a dying franchise.
