I wasn't sure what to expect when I first saw Parasite which was perfect, because it is a mesmerising masterwork that completely defies expectations. Everything about this film is perfect: the cast - standouts for me were Song Kang-ho and Choi Woo-shik, the score by Jung Jae-il, Hong Kyung-pyo's cinematography, and, of course Bong Joon-ho's script. It is a rollercoaster of emotions - it welcomes you in with witty social satire and pulls the rug out from under you with its deep shame, crushing disappointment, and molten rage. The film is intense. Even rewatching it (which I plan on doing again) the intensity is almost too much. Usually at this uncomfortable point maestro Bong changes things up to relieve some of the tension until reaching the point of no return, the film's chaotic crescendo. The come down from this affirms distaste for social class and privilege. Who is the parasite and who is the host? Which are you? Do you dare to have a plan?

An outstanding masterpiece. Bong has created a seamless piece of cinema that weaves between drama, comedy, horror with subtle class statements underlying. Each family isn't displayed as immoral or wrong- there is no 'right' and 'wrong' to these characters, only the complex net of these families and class in the modern world. This movie truly focuses around the intricate storyline of these characters but not so much the broader class issues. I've never seen a film make such a powerful statement with such little attention drawn to the direct cause, proving how Bong's selective writing and direction to create this message was so powerful and tastefully done. Outstanding work and an absolute must see.

A brilliant must see, combined with Ho's direction, the script he co-wrote with Han, the performances of the cast, Jung's score, Hong's cinematography, Yang's editing, Lee's production design, Cho's set decoration, Choi's costume design, action sequences and visual, the story and world in which Parasite explores proves that without a doubt it rightfully won the Oscar for Best Picture of 2019 and stands as one of the absolute best films of the 2010s!!!

Started out great. Awesome plot, good story. Then it descends into a really weird & dark story with a really negative perception of life. Not sure if life is really that bad in S. Korea or if its exaggerated. But either way, the movie falls flat on its face in the end.

A movie you’ll have to do research on and find the little hidden things and messages, social themes are revolving around the film, one piece of the film connects to the other but, yet the characters remain distant in way of laying. A great film the beginning will have you wondering the ending will you have saying “wow”.

If you liked JOKER, you might also like this. Parasite is about a poor family that are, well.. parasites to a rich family. The son gets a job at the rich family's house and slowly the whole family is beginning to work for them. It really deserved the Oscar that it got. The acting is good, and the directing is amazing. I've really enjoyed the directing and how Bong Joon-ho showed the the different family's welth with stairs. And it looks so damn beautiful. The fact that the movie is foreign might make people think that it is weird. But watching a movie with subtitles are good. I had an advantage since I always watch movies with subtitles.
