Past Lives
audience Reviews
, 93% Audience Score- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsA romance that withholds almost any explicit romance is a bold choice. Past Lives is committed to a high level of realism and instead of holding the story back, it makes it meaningful. How life gets in the way of what is "meant to be" is quite relatable and I love that the film finds something bittersweet about this instead of simply criticizing it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsOne of my favourites of 2024. For those who have often wondered what might have been.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsHorrible boring stupid terrible worst movie ever maybe
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsso boring, please dont waste your time with this trash
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsIt was an okay movie and this was nominated for an Oscar? Movies at this day and age just aren't as good as they used to be. The character of the husband just didn't make a lot of sense. Again, another supposedly "Asian" movie isn't really very Asian. More like another Asian American movie through the lens of a non-Asian.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsThe movie portraits real feelings. While watching you can feel the excitiment, the love, the sadness. Besides that, it's perfect
- Rating: 1 out of 5 starsI always check out the reviews first and, so, watch only highly-rated movies. So, I was expecting to be entertained. Unfortunately, I was bored pretty quickly. I gave it a second chance a week later and watched more to no avail as I still found it uninteresting. I gave up watching after 15-30 minutes. What a waste of time!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsGreta's acting is stellar, it blows you away. She is able to show microscopic emotional expressions telling you exactly what she thinks. The rest of the cast is on par which makes it an intense movie. What a gem.
- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsSpent most of the film screaming at the screen telling the bloke to have some balls and tell this childhood sweetheart to f#@k off home . Don't think many married women would be as patient as the married man, sitting at a bar in the early hours completing ignored if the roles were reversed!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 starsSplendid in its subtlety, the movie is a quiet commentary on choice, change and the nature of destiny. There are no big dramatic moments with the actors chewing the scenery, but the performers are touching and incredibly affecting. By avoiding the usual cliches of the genre the film is starkly original. Highest recommendation!
