The movie is absolutely gorgeous with its cinematography, score, set and costume design etc. But the vile amount of fornication every other minute makes this movie painfully irritating. It is like they are trying to meet a quota on how much sin they can fit on the screen. Besides that this movie would get a 4 star rating for me.

Excellent acting cannot make up for a tired plot, mediocre script, and terrible pacing. I don't understand the other critics exclaiming about the film's creativity. This story is simply a "man out of place" story with a lot more boobs. The director shamelessly steals from others both in framing and design. The jokes fall flat. There is not a moment where you are concerned for the characters, and the ending missed completely. This is a bad student film with a huge budget. Don't waste your time.

As always, the scenes are very well-shot, but the plot is just crazy and nonsensical. Someone is going to tell me that I am just not understanding it. I want to understand it, but I just know that there is nothing to understand here.

This movie is strange in an extremely engrossing way. Emma Stone hands down delivered one of the best performances I’ve seen in a long time. I didn’t know much about this movie going into it, but I came out of the theatre happy that I gave it a chance. I most likely won’t forget this movie for the rest of my life.

Yet another piece sporting overtly gutwrenching emotional turmoil in the form of abject violence and sex at brothels at its peak to make sure audiences gasp and can't look away, it parades as art and social commentary, but falls tragically short at both from the beginning. Shock and awe, and gimmicks, but nothing adds up in this one dimensional presentation of "women's fate" and so-called liberation. Affectless, dissociated Bella doesn't blink an eye in face of abject cruelty, but one minute to the other grows all-encompassing empathy in light of poverty? If she never suffers herself, how can she feel so deeply for others? The list goes on and on. The Marquies de Sade gives a more true representation of a woman's fate in "Justine," where such a woman as Bella wondering in the world of cruel men is indeed their hostage and their prey, and not becuse she is not vying for freedom. "Poor Things" is a man's version and a demented delusion of female liberation: horrific, degrading and ultimately not sexual, but pornographic.

Well that was different. Art-housy female Frankenstein movie. Dragged on too long.

Best picture?? I don't think so. Must have been a bad year for movies. Easy to see why critics liked this movie but I didn't find it very compelling. Some would call it pornigraphic and it is. Decent performances but frankly I really didn't care about any of the characters and to me that's a killer. You have to either like or hate the characters or the movie is a failure. Character first, story second. The end of the movie was obvious to see coming and it was just stupid.

This movie is juvenile and self indulgent. Can't quite make up its mind what period or what? Universe, it's in parrot, it does have some pretty c. G I backgrounds, but it's bizarre and boring, and I couldn't even get to the end of it

Loved it. Dragged a bit toward the end but finished well. Excellent overall.

One of the best Horror / Love/ Adult/Family movies I have ever seen in my 81 years. I just saw it on Amazon Prime today. It was well hidden, likely due to its Adult content. I would rate it as one of the best movies ever made. The Godfather is boring compared to it.
