Prisoner's Daughter
audience Reviews
, 80% Audience Score- Rating: 2.5 out of 5 starsIt's somewhat of a moving story, though nothing too special. What shocked me was realizing the decline of Kate Beckinsale's visuals. For decades she was kind of a sex symbol, but in this movie she looks like any simple American house wife. And it's not only the makeup and attire, which obviously had to be fitting her paper in this movie, but her face has actually completely lost her sexappeal. It's absolutely lackluster. That's a real shame! Nevertheless she does a decent job as the frustrated mother and Brian Cox is generally good anyway. So, if you are into drama, you might enjoy it. 5/10 points.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 starsThe plot of this film seemed rather tired and it was predictable from beginning to end. Not one scene left anything to the imagination, so it lost a few points there for me. That being said, performances were decent, so that made it a bit easier to watch.
- Rating: 0.5 out of 5 starsNot that interesting and gives the wrong message. Never forgive people that hurt you, especially parents. The old man sent his daughter's ex to jail for murder instead of get him arrested for abduction. He was a drug addict with mental disorder. In the end the old man(Max) never changed, he died as the bad person as he was.
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThis drama which portrays a daughter reconnecting with her Dad after 12 years is amazing, acting is alright and you can feel emotions between them. Christopher Convery acting could be better but I do like him as child actor cause he does alright films and this one yeah you can feel him as outsider from school and has really no friends except his grandfather which he gets know really well in the movie. This drama doesn’t really take anything new from others except two main leads have way of giving you real understanding of the relationship. All in all it is a good movie not an Oscar worthy one and it does come out like an early “Lifetime” movie but definitely worth a watch. I give a A-👍🏽👍🏽
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsThis was a great movie with strong performances from all of the actors. Sure it was a liitle predictable, but the story and characters were believable. Don't trust the critic reviews on this one...watch it yourself!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsIt was well written, though predictable. Engaging story line and a character progression that was subtle as the family learned how to live together and put aside past emotions.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 starsLoved this movie . Don't listen to the critics .
- Rating: 4.5 out of 5 starsThe critic reviews have always seemed like a joke, but this one really got under my skin. My advice: ditch what the critics say and trust the audience reviews. However, based on the well deserved audience reviews for this film, seems like everyone understands this already. This movie was fantastic and a remarkable film, with a truly captivating story. The director nailed it, and the cast's acting exceeded expectations. The ending was brilliant. I strongly recommend this excellent movie. Kudos to all involved! Honestly, those "critics" should feel ashamed and they should stick to their day jobs!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsThis is like a grittier version of the old Neil Simon movie, Max Dugan Returns. Yes, it has its Hallmark moments, but I dare you not to get caught up in Brian Cox's compelling portrayal! The predictability of the plot was undercut by the steady tension, and its emotional drive is strong; I couldn't stop watching! Its worthwhile moments will stay with me. I think the professional critics underestimated this film!
- Rating: 3.5 out of 5 starsIt takes a while get ahold of you but it's easier to wait when Kate Beckinsale is on the screen. Definitely a film worth watching. I won't penalize them for borrowing from El Camino btw.
